How do you do the Play Now exercises? more precisely the first one, I keep getting tackled. Presumebly I have to do these to unlock Game Modes option as it is greyed out in my game.

I have that problem, but I've only really started playing (with a sole game under my belt Smile) - what happens is you've started your offense and then lose control from a tackle, but one of you players tends to drift either from your controlling offensively still, or left over there.

I have to say though - I really enjoyed my first game and was pleasantly surprised at how much. I'm not a rugby fan on any level, be it playing it in real life or watching it on the TV - but this kept my attention, and I can't wait to get back in there and start converting my posession into points Sad

I'm finding it very hard to break the line though. Maybe I'm overusing the sprint action?

As for the game itself, it doesn't really have the high EA production values, and the first time you boot it up you know from the off it doesn't have the same budget as the rest of the EASports lineup but you'll have to ignore that.

Rugby 101 was as painless as can be, and I assume the narrator gave rugby fans all over the world an orgasm (whoever he is Razz)

Graphically it's very solid, on par with the other games of it's ilk. It maybe lacks presence off-field, but on field the players are as detailed as they come. It's not bad graphically, it's just not as busy.

I think it has the BEST crowd of it's type though, very easy on the eye, animated and a lot less demanding than NHL style 3D models. Maybe if they toned down the animation and made it responsive to actions on the screen it'd be even better.

Animations of the players are good, not perfect. This isn't Madden, they don't have the same kind of grace and it can feel kind of sloppy at times, but overall you won't notice the bad I promise. And if you do you'll forgive it!

Give this a try, I think it's real promising. They need to take this down the same road as Madden and improve each year.

I meant to say it let me set it right the way up to 1024x768. I don't go any higher than that though so I don't know whether it would of let me or not. I'll check next time I play though.

I find the gamma of the shirts are sometimes appear too bright as well - almost as if they are glowing at times ???

Also - why does everyone have to kick the ball like Johnny Willkingson Very Happy

I understand the rule, it's just the game makes it difficult to prevent.

I find after more games that it's really difficult to defend at times too because the select player coding is not too good - it seems to select weird player positions unlike Madden.

Takes some getting used to I guess.

But I'm enjoying it still and I've put the difficulty down from hard to easy in order to get a few trys. Scored (?) a good one with a little kick through the middle to run through and dive a try. Felt really satisfying to pull it off Very Happy

BTW Cartoon - I can put it right up to 1280x900 or whatever the next resolution from 1024x768 is. Must be your configuration or something?

BTW you can't configure the controller, but if you have a PS2 pad your in luck as it's basically that setup.

Anyone else finding it difficult to pull off the skill moves in an actual game?

I had enough trouble doing that training sequence using my PS2 controller - so it might not be related to the keyboard controls Munkstz.

BTW how do you use those setpiece pre-determined 'plays' or whatever they are called. You know, where your players run on designated paths? What's the way to do that?

It's very easy. You retain around 80% of posession all the time.

First impressions were good but there are a lot of turn offs coming to light after regular play. Which is a shame - but I suppose there is hope for the future of the franchise?...
