Yeah that video is over 2 years old on a small server. Last time I tried it on a big private server most of the bosses were actually pretty well scripted, not 100% retail but scripted nonetheless.

Got any video links for that? It was less than half a year ago when I last tried the private servers (lots of them) and it was the same shit as before.

Are you sure you tried the blizzlike servers and not the silly modified ones?

No man, I just know some people try things for 5 seconds, don't like it and decided the whole package is not good. Not sure myself, because I always get bored with WoW after a few hours.
The world is beautiful though.

Well tbh most of the servers I tried were blizzlike, though even the high-rate ones should be no different since they are supposed to be different only in terms of xp/money gains and item drops, funservers with custom content is another thing entirely.
I might have missed a few, but afaik I looked into most of the better-known and currently developed server projects, and they were pretty damn terrible when compared to official servers. Which is why I asked djaoni about the videos - would be nice to see wotlk content the way it was meant to be. I still very much doubt the private servers can be anywhere near official raid encounters with the phases and all tho.

I tried looking for WoW private server videos, but all I can find is badly done edits with retarded music slapped on it (probably in Windows Movie Marker )...

If they're not interested in our business, then why bother with a protection in the first place? Are they spending millions of dollars just so they can say 'haha you don't get to play our game' ?

Allow me to quote myself yet again.
iNatan wrote: | BTW, what are Ubisoft babbling about?
Quote: | As part of their first quarter report, Ubisoft revealed what each platform contributed to their bottom line, as compared to last year. Overall, the Nintendo DS continues to be Ubisoft’s main source of revenue, but the Wii and Xbox 360, compared to last year, also saw strong sales results.
For comparison sake, the company also showed the revenue contribution from each platform from last year’s first quarter.
* DS: 26 percent (down from 37 percent in Q1 08-09)
* PC: 20 percent (up from 14 percent in Q1 08-09)
* PlayStation 2: 1 percent (down from 3 percent in Q1 08-09)
* PlayStation 3: 13 percent (down from 21 percent in Q1 08-09)
* PSP: 4 percent (no change)
* Wii: 20 percent (up from 11 percent in Q1 08-09)
* Xbox 360: 16 percent (up from 9 percent in Q1 08-09)
It’s hard to make any inferences based on the data, because it encompasses a quarter rather than full-year sales. Take the numbers from what they’re worth. |

PC is the most profitable platform for Ubisoft out of the big three, that is why they care.

I was quoting the stupid analyst who claimed they didn't want the business of 'pirates'. Obviously the reason for Ubisoft's harsh DRM *is* to get the business of people who would otherwise pirate the game.

Funny, it seems like someone should 'analyze' his head. Or his ability to logically think through things he is paid(too much, IMO) to have a good understanding of.
If everyone who 'stole' was in jail, there would be a hell of a lot less revenue for the gaming industry. Shit I probably spend a good 5-10% of my income(which is decent IT pay) on gaming and according to this moron, all that should be taken away from the industry, all because I like to make educated purchases. Same case as quite a few people on here I gather.
One real easy example of how his thinking is critically flawed: Sims 3 - one of the highest pirated game in history is also one of the best selling.
BS to they don't want our business. And fuck ubi - can't be said enough.
Core i7 920 @ 3.8Ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 8-8-8-24 @ 1600mhz | eVga x58 Mobo | 2 x eVga GTX 460 SLI | Intel X25-M + 3x Seagate + WD Black = 2.75TB | X-Fi Titanium | PCP&C Silencer 750 | G15 KB | G5 Mouse | G35 Headset | Z-5500 Digital | Samsung T260HD

"We have no interest in your business since you don't pay for stuff anyway."
Business usually involves money changing hands. I don't know who "we" is but every company I know will happily deal with people who are willing to pay monies for services. You know who pay money for services or products? Pirates do. Ubi needs to realise they are wasting money on this whole DRM scheme, you aren't suddenly going to convince people to buy your wares. All the Ubi DRM does is make customers suffer and remove sales because of those who don't buy into the DRM.
I do wonder how much money they spent on this whole thing.

Hes the biggest fucking troll on the net
And some people in the comments need to be fucking culled
"Patcher. I agree. Piracy is wrong. I think PCs should come bundled with anti-piracy chips. "
Edit one of the comments just proves how much of a douche he is
Quote: |
Ugh, Pachter did it. He turned the DRM discussion into a pro-piracy vs anti-piracy argument.
Pachter thinks PC gamers are complaining about DRM because it stops them from pirating games, on this he is 100% wrong. Not only does DRM not stop piracy, but the ONLY people complaining are paying customers who have been prevented from playing the game they've legally purchased because of DRM.
Pachter doesn't even mention this, he just assumes every PC gamer is a pirate and because of that he misses the point entirely.
That's why PC gamers flame you Pachter - not because you're anti-piracy, because you don't know what the hell you're talking about. |
| Well said, Patcher is a replica of how the whole industry behaves and sees PC gamers, they just don't get it (unless they are Polish or Stardock).

Well, to be fair, out of all games sold in Poland, 70-75% of them is sold on PC, so Polish developers can't really throw bullshit at PC users.

While some parties of Namco Bandai are supporting these sorts of DRM it seems CD Project are rather dismissive about it.
(Witcher did use Tages at first but protection was removed altogether in 1.5 / 1.6 somewhere ie either the enhanced edition or the patch after it.)
