Hi,

I am wondering if any of you guys knows about a good strategy game to be released this year.
I have the feeling these games are not as popular as before (probably because consoles took over the gaming market).

I really enjoyed Age of Empires 2 or Rise of Nations and I'd love to see similar games with deep multiplayer experience...

Elemental is the only one on the horizon.
Thought it might turn out to be very good indeed. I have quite a few reservations concerning Civ 5 as it looks like they're dumbing down quite a few things.

It's a pity supcom2 was such a massive disappointment. I can never get enough of good strategy games, but we see so few. Maybe ironclad will be cooking up something new soon, they've gotta be done releasing sins of a solar empire expansions sooner or later.

Sadly 9/10 of all strategy games being released these days are RTS games.

I'm still holding my thumbs and wishing for a 40k turn based game that is true to the table top rules but that's never going to happen, is it? Sad

If you hang on a few months, there is a very realistic strategy game coming out. Judging by the state of the world today it's going to be a big one. We had the beta in 1939, so it must be due out soon.

The graphics are super realistic and if you're between 18-30 chances are good you'll be 'invited' to play.

/end doom and gloom.

Back on topic - is no-one looking forward to Ruse? I played the steam beta and I thought it was pretty good.

You mean its funny that they keep on coming when you had enough of them? You know, you either hate or love ww2 games. Unfortunatly the haters are the ones that are loudest. There is an incredible fanbase of ww2 games out there (me included) who just can't get enough of them.

What makes ww2 games so good is that the weapons are shitloads of background information and different locations/weapons to use.

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Thanks for your answers. I forgot about Civ5 but yes it surely will be a nice game.
However I'm not really into games with fantasy/futuristic universes. I'd love to see a AOE2 refresh or an AOE4 taking place from the 19th to the 20th century Wink

Yes of course it isn't. I was actually referring to some of the games mentionned like Elemental or Distant Worlds.

Ah yeah, that was a great game - unfortunately hugely underrated...

speaking of which Petroglyph will have a new rts game - End of nations.. tho it will be MMO rts -persistent battlefield world - about 50 players on map etc. http://www.petroglyphgames.com/game?id=30

There are some trailers on .. gametrailers.com

After the way Stardock fucked up Demigod I'm gonna wait before I shell out any cash for their future games. Sadly Sad

Fear not, Stardock only published demigod. It was developed by Gas Powered Games. Stardock itself is actually developing Elemental.

Only games I'm looking forward to are Elemental (already mentioned) and something no one here has probably heard about, Star Ruler: http://starruler.blind-mind.com/ (seriously, check out the feature list).

I'm definitely watching Civ V, but I expect to be disappointed. Guess I'll find out.

Stardock was actually responsibly for the networking code that ended up fucking the game up. The gameplay was done by GPG, and it was excellent! However, the technical side was botched so badly by Stardock that the end product was unplayable!
