Yeah the controls needs some refining on the pc i actually started playing it with the 360 pad as it's less cumbersome especially the hacking.

The only problem I'm having is the constant slowdowns when turning the camera. My fps is constantly around 60 however.
I tried changing the ini files to disable mouse smoothing, but then it just goes waay to slow during such slowdown. If I leave it on, it just twitches too fast.

I hope they can get a patch out to fix this properly but I'm not sure whether SEGA will give the game support after the release. Hopefully.
Also, I noticed some oddities. Some character models (Mike included) looked very strange when the camera is far away during cutscenes. It's especially noticeable when you encounter SIE the first time, whenever the camera is farther away I guess the game uses a lower quality version of the model or something, and it looked completely wonky. I've watched the same scene from the trailers and such and it doesn't look like that. I wonder what causes it.

Could be the motion blur, I guess... everything looks horrid and muggy from a distance. I'm still really enjoying the game however, as the character interactions are superb! You never truly know what tone or response will work on any given character - like SIE; she seems to prefer direct and aggressive approaches, but also a suave one will work too, if she likes you.

Just ran into a hacking game during the tutorial mission...dear god is that annoying, using mouse for this kind of task is never a good idea. At the very least they could have used the arrow keys.

Well fuck. I gave this game more time than I expected but I motherfucking give up. The mouse smoothing is FORCED and CANNOT be fully disabled and you can't bring down the console either to enter the command or cvar to disable it. The funny thing is when i run the game in benchmark mode it flies like fucking mad. I get like 80 FPS average yet the retarded thing figures i need my mouse tuned.
Fucking stupid dickwads with integrated graphics and their whining: I get "mouse lag". And this retarded mouse smoothing is what Epic comes up with as a solution. for fucks sake.
I gnawed on UDK wiki for about an hour and a half trying out a shitload of stuff such as custom ini loading, running execs and shit but everything is locked out.
Off the top of my head i disabled mouse smoothing in these games and luckily it was possible, otherwise they would be unplayable like this piece of shit:
Mass Effect 2, Borderlands, Batman Arkham Assylum, and basically every UE 3 game as of late, pitch in with suggestions i'm sure it fits into ths fucking category.
Diamond in the rough my ass. A PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! DIE!

A couple more annoying issues with hacking:
Since I've modified the controls, the interact button is not space, but F for me. When I start the hack, it says I need to press F to lock the password, but it won't work - I still have to use Space for that. Cost me a failed hack..
Another one that caused an alarm twice: trying to abort by clicking the Abort button with the mouse causes the second password to lock in, since it makes you lose time (if you get it wrong), and you normally hit the abort when you are low on time, I get an alarm instead of aborting an attempt to hack.
So hacking needs some tweaking.
Also forcing AF does indeed cause the dialog options to lose descriptions (on Ati at least).
Edit: Turns out it's not the AF but any type of AA that causes this. And not only dialogs, but also the tips that appear at the top of the screen are not visible, missed the cover tutorial because of that.
Hopefully Ati will come up with a patch soon enough.

More detailed instructions:
Run regedit.exe. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the SEGA Corporation folder and Obsidian folder and delete them. If your on a x64 system these folders will be found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node. Also, delete the SEGA Corporation folder found in C:\ProgramData. Enjoy! |
Uh you probably don't want to delete the entire Obsidian folder unless you don't have any other Obsidian games installed, just an fyi.

I'd highly recommend uninstall tool or something comparable for situations like these. It does a great job of deleting everything associated with a program when you uninstall it.

no issues hacking etc, its not as bad as some want it to make here with m/k lol.
my own little complain is : FoV could be wider (very tunnely vision imo) and less mouse laggy movement (havent checked cfg's yet, probably fixable there).

The most annoying thing for me by far, is the constant stuttering. I get them too often, don't know why... either the level keeps loading new areas all the time or there is something wrong.
You start to sprint in same direction, and then bam, the game hitches and a second later you are right in front of the camera causing the alarm... Not to mention the fact that this hitching is annoying enough all by itself.

So i finally tried the game and...
The game stutters like CRAZY , when i turn, when i walk, when im near checkpoints... its really really really annoying. Same problems with alarms and being spotted by enemy as above poster - all because of the ridiculous stuttering. And to think that the graphics are not top notch - to have some reason for all that performance.
Also i find the hacking game.. just.. lol-able - the mouse just goes wherever it pleases to. The console menus & - re- equipping powers and weapons is pain in the ass - so it seems having quickslots and shortucuts on the PC is something way too hard to do. Also when im about to buy something i must wait a very long time just for the item preview to appear.
And i was so hyped to play this game. But because of the above problems - i really can't enjoy nor the story - nor the gameplay. And to think that i started as recruit just to have sweet bonuses on my second playthrought - it would be a miracle if i even finish the 1st one.
Fuck consoles and shitty ports !

I get stuttering too, but usually only when I'm moving the camera around. Looking around different forums, seems like it's a wide spread problem and not hardware related (likely bad optimization, a trademark of Obsidian). The menu system is what is driving me fucking insane, takes 10 seconds to load something. Still enjoying the game however, even with those problems.

So, is this game worth getting? From the last few pages, seems people either love it or say it's utter shit. Poor graphics is not a problem for me, I'm more worried about bugs...

Kinda hard to explain hope someone gets what i mean

Quote: | Since you've got a 360, it stands to reason you'll have a lot more fun (until the inevitable PC patches come flooding out of Obsidian) out of the 360 version. No camera or stutter issues here, though I did get some INSANE framerate loss during a mission at Brayko's mansion in Russia. Other than that though, it's tip-top. |
I tend to prefer playing on pc if I can... unless bugs make the game unplayable or at least very annoying. (and for shooter games especially, mouse+kb = win).

The game as it is on PC is complete FAIL. No, I am not willing to overlook the awful control issues to enjoy what might be a good core. Until fixed, it is complete console garbage.
I have the stutters as well.

The issues on PC don't ruin the experience for me, but they are there. The game is definitely worth a download at least, to see if you're on the hate/love side.

Yes, I get it. But only in cases my FPS gets somewhat below 60 (like when trying to force x8 edge detect AA). Doing something like that make game totally unplayable (although FRAPS shows over 30fps!!!), because it then shutters all the time when camera moves.
Also, it happens in cases when some loading needs to occur in background (this is without fancy AA and stuff). Like when alarm is triggered. Then in "shutters" for a second, enough for camera to turn around a bit. Really annoying.
