He was probably expecting another generic Gears Effect 2.

Isn't that a tad bit harsh? Gear of War lasted 3-5 hours with pretty much 0 story.

Mass Effect 2 at least has a story, even tho it is not an rpg.

Don't get me wrong ME2 is a great game, I'm just sick of people wanting everything to be just another shooter.

I'm excited for this game now as well just from reading here. Smile

Stop teasing, I was planning to buy the game tomorrow, but I'd like to test a "demo" first... But then again, I guess that after I buy it it will immediately be released by RLD or Skid Laughing It's just my luck...

EDIT: oh, it's real! Holy shit!

Yes this title doesn't feature the same degree of freedom of exploration as the titles I mentioned that shouldn't need mentioned, nor does it have the atmosphere of Deus Ex.

But it does have interesting characters, a lot of dialogue that is actually good, dynamic storyline that isn't on rails like most other AAA games, and quite a lot of options for customizing the gameplay to your wants and needs.

You get some interesting gadgets and abilities later on in the game that is reminiscent in function of some of those you had in Deus Ex and the satisfaction of using them, very similar.
The artificial intelligence generally behaves intelligently and tries to outflank you in combat situations and tries to seek you out if you're going the path of the ninja.
Where it really shines though is the interaction between the player and the games universe, how you see the consequences of your choices, both good and bad, how you choose to reply to people.

Like with Fallout 2 theres a lot of that "if you think it can be done it probably can" through the interactions with the npc's.
And the story sets me back to 2000 with Deus Ex, all the great big conspiracies, surprises and you as the player in the middle making all the choices and watching the world being shaped accordingly.

In this sense I do see this title as being a lot better than what else we've been served in recent years, and a landmark title in that it might allow game developers to go back to these deeper mechanics that can be found in the games of 10-13 years ago, the mechanics that the general game development industry has regretably moved away from.

I knew the game would be interesting but after reading this... Holy cow.. Shocked

11GB according to my Ruskie install. Could be +/- 2GB for the US version, which is most likely what the Skidrowdies cracked.

=Edit=

@D34Dite

Once I get ahold of the Skidrow crack, and it actually works, I'll revoke my activation for you mate =)

Does the game support the option of choosing sex to your liking? I prefer playing with female characters more. Or are you at least given the opporunity to modify/configure the outer shell of the predefined male character in AP? To me, he looks lke a bathing model.

Just came back, and I see a release. Isn't that great?

Now we'll see if the game is really as good as described, and I truly hope so.

No and not really. Male only. As for looks, you customise the face to a small degree, and any new pieces of armour change your overall appearance.

One thing Epsilon is absolutely dead-on about is that the *interaction* is back and in full effect. Given the fact that this is a very story-heavy game, the amount of choice they give to the player is really something. It's refreshing since many recent RPGs have just lacked that interactivity, being very limiting to the player and how he interacts with the plot and characters.

It's unfortunate that most reviewers will not see past the rough-looking surface, because it will likely hurt the game's reputation. But there is far more depth and interactivity to be found here than recent "blockbusters" like the Mass Effects (for the record, I like the second one quite a bit) or what have you.

Feels like the game will go down a path kinda like Bloodlines or something like that.
