Soo after a while i decided to install the game again (need to complete my mega complex with several buildings with max floors, underground gardens , helipads, etc. Very Happy)

Soo i installed sims 3, world adventures, high end stuff - in this order. I cracked only the later (with the on iso vitality exe). After a short run everything seems fine. Do i need to patch/crack something else? like the host dll , or to apply cracks to sims 3 and world adventures as well ?

Also im using 3.0.38 Is there crack for the later / is it safe to use 3.2.8 ? Smile

Looks ok so far. Too bad no word on pimping out the old jobs.

I've actually been waiting for this but going by the look of that i'm dissapointed...Looks very shallow to me.. Crying or Very sad Thats a perfect example of what should have been in the Sims Vanilla to begin with.

I just installed it again with all xpacs after that Ambitions release, had not played the game since the Sims 3 release.

Quite fun again, but instead of my last time "serious" play attempt I now started Whorella HasEmAll, a charismatic athletic, yet evil woman with commitment issues, whos life goal is to be a gold digging harpy.

I want her to sleep around as much as possible, thus it's quite helpfull that she got a job at the fire brigade where there are lots of athletic fire fighters... also she sleeps at the fire station most nights heh. I think I should have made her cleptomanic as well, she could steal lots of neat stuff in the houses where she has to put out fires.

I hated the kleptomaniac perk in Sims 3 Sad I hoped you'd be able to steal whatever you wanted, but you can't... your sim steals automatically, randomly Sad

So for now im just continuing the never ending task of decorating my.. um.. megacomplex. God it will take forever to decorate this place... 6 floors at the biggest terrain in sunset valley + underground level + untold amount of basement after basement levels. And thats just the main building Very Happy

Tho the game is pretty crashy now. And sometimes i get error 12-13, while saving my game.. Meh.

For fucks sake , this constant crashing (especially on saving) is getting so annoying, plenty of time wasted again, sigh..

edit: well, it may be because of the thousands of objects that are on my lot.. maybe i am stressing the sims 3.. engine or something like that :]

Interesting, seeing that even with the addon and stuff-pack, S3 had a 0 crash-rate for me (seriously, not a single crash ever, no matter how long my sessions were).

I guess I'll jsut wait until they release a few patches.

Just to help keep me sane - what are you guys doing to get the custom content/downloads to work?

Installing Sims 3 plus expansions etc with latest patches?

Everytime ive done that, the custom content wont load. No riverview blah blah. Is there a special trick or order to get this to work?

Read the latest news about it and learn from there, this site will help a lot.
http://www.modthesims.info/browse.php?gs=2

Which leads to this for info - http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=405117
And for mods - http://www.modthesims.info/announcement.php?f=551&announcementid=144

And once that's done head here.
http://www.sexysims2.com/download.php?gs=2 Razz
(Kidding sort of, for DLC mods and more various sites have the full content pack at around 690 - 700 MB up until April 2010, I guess there wasn't much content May due to this expansion but it'll probably pick up with exclusives for this new addition to the game.)

EDIT: I used the torrent called DCCache myself but there are other packs like "sims3store" (13 rar files.) and maybe more, easy to use and functions as it should.

Code:

Sooooo this is my first torrent, it has everything up to i think March/April 2010 store content... all i am giving you is a dccache files. now these are really simple. from what i learned, they are apparently a database of the store content.
Instructions:

1. delete dccbackup. its pointless. it makes ur game lagg. ( ONLY DO THIS IF U HAVE A SLOW COMP or if u wanna do it anyway)

2. grab the dccache folder and put it in your "mods" folder in sims 3 (if you dont have a mods folder then.. google it ill include the resource.cfg file in the folder)

3. Now, copy all the files inside the dccache folder (not the folder itself) and head to the sims 3 in your documents
ex. C:\Users\InsertNameHere\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache for windows 7

4. paste all the files inside that folder

5. open your sims 3 launcher and be amazed.....

6. SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED (cuz i cant seed forever)

your welcome and have a nice life!

Nice, though if you use the latest patch for each title - http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ and also have this "Ambitions" release it's enough to run the Ambitions EXE.
(Running the others would normally start the Ambitions data anyhow or atleast that's how it was with the previous two addons WA and Loft, nice to have it cracked though even if it's just a disc check with some way for it to check against EA's server, probably just serial number related for the purpose of the EA item store validation and Sims account.)

(Would be better if there was a single core EXE and then the addons added more data for a single though larger patch as neither addon is stand-alone anyhow but it's not that complicated even if they keep releasing them this way, bundled Mac and Win patches take half the space on the disc alone, haha.)

Doesn't the DCCache have to be updated each time something new content comes out though?

Possibly, or the author might just add those additions as a separate cache file like ddcache.04
(Similar to but not related to the original DDCache folder files which the game uses to store content, these are part of the mod folder and separate so both work together.)

EDIT: Also the resource.cfg file can cause crashes, if so just change the folder name to ./ instead of the default / only before the folder path. Smile

I got a hold of the DCCache torrent but it seems to be lacking quite a lot of items, thus I ventured out on the intarwebs in the hope of finding what I was looking for.

It seems I did, I managed to get a hold of all the store items and a way to make them work flawlessy in the game. Now if only I could fix this CTD I keep having.

I think that's the one I've got. Only way I could get it working was to put the files into the actual DCCache folder in Docs\EA\The Sims 3. They dont work in the new Docs\EA\The Sims 3\Mods\ DCCache folder, even after setting the Resource.cfg correctly for some reason??

.package files work OK in new folder, but not DCCache ones.

Anyway, seems to work fine as items show up in game, although some of the thumbnail images for them are missing in the launcher when viewed from there.

Yeah, DCCache works well enough, finding one that has everything is hard though as there's really not a single person that's keeping it updated.

At any rate, if you run files through this tool, http://forum.jfade.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=473 you'll be able to get the store content working perfectly.

1.Move whatever content you want installed to your C:\Users\accountname\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads
2. Run CompressorizerRedux.exe.
3.Add files to list .
4. Make sure decrapify is selected and not normal.
5. Press GO! and wait for it to finsih.
6. Start up the sims 3 launcher and install all the content from there
7. Done, it'll all now show up in game without any mess ups what so ever.

It's pretty much the same thing that's been floating around for a while, just with a pretty GUI instead. At any rate it's rather future proof and you wont have to look for new ddcaches all the time.
