What does this show, should be able to tell which localization is supported by those sub-folders in that location.
\Alpha Protocol\Engine\Localization
(Should be ten folders all in all.)
EDIT: And \Alpha Protocol\APGame\Localization
(Plus the folders in /Bin though those seem to be only for the activation.)

Well having played it some more, this might turn out to be one of those landmark titles like Fallout 2 or Deus Ex, it's looking that way right now atleast.

WOW!
That's a pretty bold statement.
I can hardly wait to try it out and see for myself.

Holy shit!
Is the comparison in term of ways to complete game objectives (like in Deus Ex) and in the possibility to make choices with lasting repercussions (like in Fallout 2)? Because if it is, I'm gonna buy it right away.

I thought you didn't care about graphics? |
I want to do a comparison between the PC and 360 versions.
Typically you seek to find something negative as usual.
JBeckman wrote: | Epsilon posted a few images on page 16 and 17, from Sabin's comment about them it seems that the textures were a bit sharper for the environment though character detail was more or less the same as the X360 edition.
(Various UE3 engine INI tweaks might be possible as well such as forcing AF16 instead of the default 4x, shadow resolution up from the default of 64 low to 1024 high LOD, trilinear filtering, mip-map bias, decal lifetime - mentioned already though - and a few other things I'd guess.) |
Thanks JB
Once again you strike to the heart of the matter without all the usual bs one usually has to wade through.
thanks again.

I have years interested in this game. I really trust in Obsidian.

Now that Obsidian has had all the time in the world to make this game I want to really see how much they're capable of without having to cut down on their game or having glitches in it due to time constraints...
1 and 2 are still amazing.

G2play, around 20 euros. As far as I know, they're reliable and not scammers.
If we were to find one or two other people to share the key with (the 5 activations thing) we could get one for less than 5 euros each.

I played some more and while I perhaps wouldn't put it on the same level as Deus Ex (though it's really *far* too early to tell the lasting appeal of course) it's so much fucking fun. I can't believe that guy gave it a 5/10, I can't recall the last time where I disagreed so much with a low score.

Well, it IS Obsidian - so there are glitches and issues with the game, but surprisingly far less than their usual games. Still oodles of awesome fun though, it really DOES just get better and better!

He was probably expecting another generic Gears Effect 2.

Isn't that a tad bit harsh? Gear of War lasted 3-5 hours with pretty much 0 story.
Mass Effect 2 at least has a story, even tho it is not an rpg.

Yes this title doesn't feature the same degree of freedom of exploration as the titles I mentioned that shouldn't need mentioned, nor does it have the atmosphere of Deus Ex.
But it does have interesting characters, a lot of dialogue that is actually good, dynamic storyline that isn't on rails like most other AAA games, and quite a lot of options for customizing the gameplay to your wants and needs.
You get some interesting gadgets and abilities later on in the game that is reminiscent in function of some of those you had in Deus Ex and the satisfaction of using them, very similar.
The artificial intelligence generally behaves intelligently and tries to outflank you in combat situations and tries to seek you out if you're going the path of the ninja.
Where it really shines though is the interaction between the player and the games universe, how you see the consequences of your choices, both good and bad, how you choose to reply to people.
Like with Fallout 2 theres a lot of that "if you think it can be done it probably can" through the interactions with the npc's.
And the story sets me back to 2000 with Deus Ex, all the great big conspiracies, surprises and you as the player in the middle making all the choices and watching the world being shaped accordingly.
In this sense I do see this title as being a lot better than what else we've been served in recent years, and a landmark title in that it might allow game developers to go back to these deeper mechanics that can be found in the games of 10-13 years ago, the mechanics that the general game development industry has regretably moved away from.

Take it from me; if Epsilon (of all people..) praises the choice system and interactions, comparing them to titles like Deus Ex and Fallout 2, then you can bet this really is a brilliant game. I second absolutely everything he said.

OMG this review is good for the lulz

An excerpt:
I have no idea who was the Einstein that designed the codebreaking part in the game, but he managed to urinate Cat and I off like no other game could so far.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I think I've never been so "hyped" about a PC game since several years, and all thanks to both Sabin's and Epsilon's opinions.

This is all i needed to know. There are a few people here whose opinion i respect a great deal and here i have two them saying they like it. If i can get a good enough price i'll probably just buy it. It's good to see you posting again Sabin. I don't post much myself but i always like reading your posts. Direct, no BS, it's the only way to be (takes hand out of Sabin's Jock and goes back to corner ) |
Hey, no probs! I love gaming, always have and always will, so I'm always going to give my honest opinions about games =) Definitely worth picking up, though I recommend trying the "demo" first (either on the 360 or the PC) as, being Obsidian, it has a few issues that may or not put people off playing.
I'm about 8hrs in and I'm honestly have a whale of a time. The story is really starting to get interesting now and the character interaction between yourself and your allies (or enemies ) is second only to BioWare, IMO. Combat gets a LOT better once you pump some points into your weapon stats, and also start tricking out your guns with modifications.

Hmmm. Now you've generated in me a bigger interest.
This is not coming from a review but from a gamer who liked Deus Ex...
You're hyping me.
