Hey, got a question for you. How is the weapon system? I mean, can you install mods on the weapons?(such as silencers, scopes, sights, laser pointers, etc.) Or do you just pick-up weapons and that's it? Also, can you increase your accuracy skill? And if so, does it influence the size of that ginormous thing they call a crosshair?

It starts off REALLY shit, but gets better as you buy - and upgrade - new weapons, as well as investing points into your weapon skills. So yes; you can upgrade each gun with a multitude of parts, which you buy from the black market, and you can upgrade your skills and proficiencies by levelling up and spending AP =) As for influencing the crosshair? I don't *think* so, I've not seen any size reduction at least, but your shots do become more accurate.

Thanks a lot, I'm thinking of actually buying it, I've always had a weakness for spy operas Very Happy

No, no female character - this is a set story with a set protagonist (or antagonist, depending on how you play Razz) and while there is *some* customisation, there's nothing much to cheer about;

Eye colour, hair style, beard style, glasses, hat, skin tan amount (locked to playing a white guy)

You can customize your appearence and your skills, you cannot change character or gender, you get the option to pick a specific "class" at a certain level.

RE: Eps' comment about choosing a class; you actually get TWO chances for that. At the start during character creation, you can choose a specific role which gives starting bonuses to certain skills ... or you can choose a Recruit, which has ZERO bonuses and basically starts you on a blank slate. I chose that "role" because it's tied to a 360 achievement... I'm so sad Sad

The second time is after you finish the first Engagement (in Saudi Arabia) after which you are given a choice of personalised classes. You can choose from three presets, each with a specialisation in three different skills (raises the level cap of said skills from 10 to 15) or you can make your own class, called Operative, which lets you choose your OWN three skill sets to specialise in.

Also, when you beat the game with the Recruit class, you unlock the Veteran class which starts off with 3 ranks in each skill.

These classes have different dialogue associated with them as well. A developer said that Veteran mode is where they put some of the almost too over-the-top dialogue/cutscene stuff for example.

You're the "House Troll", too helpful to remove, too annoying to become mod and something else to do with a word you don't deny being ascribed to your character.

All in all, if you can look passed the poor visuals and the - initially shoddy - combat, I'd say this game was a definite purchase. Interesting story, great voices/audio, loads of guns and upgrades and skills, MANY paths through each mission (though the areas themselves are pretty linear.. much like ME2) and well, it's an RPG set in modern times with an emphasis on espionage. Those are uber rare Very Happy

I'd say it was more like ME2 than ME1, but definitely enjoyable nonetheless.

I played some at my mates' place. I have to admit, it looks very dated, but that's the only thing going against it. And that's saying something.

I admit. I really wanted this to be good, because I value obsidian highly. And it came through. Honestly. If what mass effect 2 wished it could be, and what conviction wished it could be, had a genius baby, it'd be AP.

I think it beats ME2 in gameplay. Has more depth than and of the MEs, so it's all good.

Production values are not high, but I'm good with that.

Let me get this straight, alright. People are playing pirated copies of this already on consoles? And the PC version can't be pirated yet? And devs are telling me "the money is on consoles" due to rampant PC piracy?

This is just my humble opinion based on gut feeling alone!.
The fact that some games are cracked earlier on consoles doesn't necessarily mean that they get pirated more on them than on PC! I'll explain why, a lot of "hardcore console gamers" aren't 'tech savvy' enough to play a pirated game on their console. Think about it first: you have to find a reliable "warez site" (like the secret FTP server on this forum, just ask Epsilon for details Wink ) which for some people can be difficult to find, second: you have to patch the console itself which is yet another nuisance, not to mention that if you don't want your xbox to get banned you need to follow on "stealth updates" on a regular basis. Now I'm not saying that those things are extremely difficult or complicated but if you consider the fact that even for a simple PC crack there are idiots on the forums who: "oh my god the crack doesn't work for me nuke it!!!!1111. edit: looks like you have to copy the file from the CRACK folder to the game folder LOLZ!!!!1111" you'll understand why it can be very hard for some people to play pirated game on consoles and why the PC pirate scene is more accessible hence games on the PC get more pirates.
those are just my two cents on the matter and I can be wrong Very Happy

Are there more than 3 dialogue/response options then?

"We always use 'The Three J.B.s,'" says Obsidian's Senior Producer, Ryan Rucinski. "There's Jack Bauer, James Bond, Jason Bourne. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. Jason Bourne is stealth, kind of like 'I'm going to beat you up really close and get the hell out of here.' Jack Bauer: gun forward, amazing with the 9mm. And of course there's the James Bond, who is more of a suave, sophisticated type of guy who uses more linguistics with the ladies as well as other people to kind of get through things."

Those are the 'classes' you can choose at the start if you don't opt for the recruit, right?

Check the ini file. Since its Unreal engine there might be some options hidden there to enhance the graphics quality.
