Otherwise it's a plain theft..

Australia had a few tackles in the first half.. .. studs up off the ground..

Even the australian coach in the after match is saying his team should have been down to 9 and the players should have gone off.. (both tackles were against the same player and he went off injured)

Australia are a much better team than us.. (they are world ranked 20th.. we are something like 80?)

Even the Australian manager thought it was shit Razz

Quote:

Pim Slams Star Duo

SOCCEROOS boss Pim Verbeek has slammed the 'unprofessional' tackles of Vince Grella and Tim Cahill during Monday night's friendly against New Zealand which have left one of the All Whites' best players in danger of missing the World Cup.

New Zealand manager Ricky Herbert was also quick to condemn Grella and Cahill, arguing both men should have been sent off for two separate tackles on Leo Bertos in the space of three minutes in the first half which resulted in the Wellington Phoenix winger being carried from the field with a leg injury.

Herbert revealed after the game that Bertos had suffered some 'bad contact' to his shin area as a result of the tackles and would undergo scans to ensure he has not suffered any structural damage before being cleared to play in the World Cup.

"I am probably a little disappointed with those tackles and I think in a normal game we would have been up against nine (men)," Herbert said.

And Verbeek had little sympathy for Grella and Cahill agreeing with Herbert that both players should have been sent off instead of receiving yellow cards, although he described Grella's two-footed lunge on Bertos as a far more serious tackle than Cahill's high shot on Bertos just minutes later.

"I think in the World Cup (as opposed to a friendly) that would have been two red cards," he said of Grella and Cahill.

"I cannot accept this (type of tackle) of course and the players know you should not play the game like this because you cannot afford to go into whatever game and make tackles like that."

Verbeek substituted both players at half-time but said he thought about taking two of Australia's best players off the field immediately as he feared the Kiwi players would seek retribution on two players he cannot afford to lose to injury so close to the World Cup.

"I was ready to take them out of the game immediately to protect them," he said.

"If I was on the field with the other side I would have been mad or angry (after those tackles) so you could expect them to cop something back and that is what they deserved.

"But you can only give compliments to the New Zealand players and the way they behaved themselves. They were professional, my players were not."

Verbeek said he would speak to both Cahill and Grella and remind them their behaviour on the pitch was 'unacceptable for the rest of the team'.

"I can't find any reason why you should do it so I am very disappointed in that," he said.

"And we are lucky it happened today and it should not happen again in the upcoming six weeks."

Verbeek said Grella's tackle was particularly bad and said it was borne of frustration at a time when Australia was already 1-0 down and struggling to maintain possession.

He added: "Vince was frustrated because he lost the ball a few seconds before that but they (Cahill and Grella) know they cannot do that anymore."

ANYWAYS .. world cup will be.. interesting.... our team is the lowest ranked in the cup i think (by far) .. if we can score a goal it will be a miracle..

In our country its

Rugby - Number 1 Ranked team in the world.. if we lose.. its a big deal
Cricket - Number 3 Ranked team in the world (ODIS)
Soccer/Football- Number 78 in the world.. if we lose.. people say "huh there was a soccer game on ?"

Very Happy

Althou tbh the interest in this years world cup is HUGE .. but nobody has any expectations

Hell we have non pro players in our team who have normal jobs Very Happy

Edit: Fuu.. prob our best young player is out injured for the wc from last night :/

Holy FUCK

we just beat serbia

Serbia Ranking 15
New Zealand Ranking 78

Quote:
The game was marred by crowd disruptions with objects thrown onto the pitch and a handful of Serbian fans getting past pitch security.

Serbian captain Vidic had to calm the errant section of the crowd in order for the game to complete the last few minutes.

Hmmm seriously I'm starting to be scared of New Zealand..considering that our team is qualitatively and physically inferior if compared to the 2006's one, and you have surely more hunger of victory than us.... Razz
We could receive a very unexpected suprise Laughing

We will prob get thrashed.. i imagine the "hopes" for our team will be vs slovakia..

however unlike <insert every team in the world cup> our team/country has ZERO expectations..

Kinda like.. Italy in a rugby world cup Razz (Granted i dont know how the media in italy treat rugby) Razz

its prob more like.. canada in a rugby world cup.. Very Happy

Exactly, you basically have "nothing to lose", a non-negligible strenght if you ask to me Smile
Yeah, the comparison with Italy in rugby is definitely appropriate, since every year our main objective is "to avoid the Wooden Spoon" Razz
