i dun tink you understand
a single episode cannot neglect pass episodes or seasons as a whole
you cant just jump to conclusion and say that previous flashes were just character development
and this one stands out just because
also previous flashes held major plot points relevant to previous seasons
reasons they came to the island were in their previous flashes
reasons they went to Australia were in their previous flashes
flash sideway neglects everything we knew about lost
we thought it was just clever writing
it wasn't lol
it was an 18 hour long cop-out

The resolution of the sideways universe was really awful. So they're all in a timeless purgatory reality, meeting up in a church, happy to be dead and now moving on to the nothingness that awaits them. I'd like to tell them that and see their faces then..
I've never seen so much theistic bullshit being rammed down my throat at once. Oh wait, I have, it was the BSG ending!
Why couldn't it just have been a parallel universe created by the jughead detonation, everyone becomes aware of the island reality, they're all going to be best friends and everyone lives happily ever after. This would've been acceptable and all they needed to do was to swap one scene and a few lines of dialogue.
As for the island storyline, I'm ok with how it ended, kinda funny imagining Hurley and Ben as the new keepers of the Island and Jacks death scene with Vincent was very powerful.
Still, wow, what a sour note that finale put on my tongue.

Was Jack in the same spot after the plane crash from the first season and in the finale when he fell to the ground with Vincent next to him?

Code: | People who watch Lost are a very diverse group of people. Some are so invested in the mythology of the show that they’ve lost track of what the show was when it first aired. The finale will bound to bring up anger in some people over not answering certain questions. An important question I have to ask, why do the answers matter? Lost is a story about these characters we’ve followed through the six seasons. It’s not about what the numbers mean, not about who built the statue or what the smoke monster really is. It isn’t the story of Lost, never has been. |

Thats the same bunch of crap as any of the other "outstanding", "beautiful" and "perfect" finale reviews.
Quote: |
The light doesn’t need to be explained to me. It’s life, death and rebirth. I guess if they didn’t put the plug back into the hole that the flashsideways wouldn’t exist. So many theories about the light but that’s what makes this show great. I wouldn’t want it to be explained. The island could be the source of heaven. It needs to be protected so people can move on to the afterlife.
|
Or from Robz888 recap:
Quote: |
Daniel, as evidenced by his conversation with Desmond in "Happily Ever After", still thinks he caused an alternate reality by setting off a bomb.
He might appear like he's in the same world as everybody else, but for him, it could be a level below.
He's still wrapped up in the science without seeing the bigger picture. That could be why someone like him isn't ready to move on yet.
Ultimately, though, I felt bad for the dead man in Locke's guise sprawled across the rocks. I truly wonder what world his soul would move on to.
|
These people take those things for granted they don't even notice writing it down and thats why some of us can never agree.

What a pitiful excuse it is to say "only the characters matter the mystery does not". Frankly, I'm not gonna say the character development is not a huge part of the show, but come on now surely you don't think this show would be what it was (could've been) without the mystery.
I don't see how someone could not be disappointed when the writers suddenly decide to disregard one of the sides and decide to focus just on character resolutions, when that is by far the easiest possible thing to do. I don't care that the ending was "beautiful" hell they could've shown Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Juliet, Charlie, Claire, Jin, Sun, Desmond and Penny all have a massive orgy in the jungle and it would be "beautiful".

Fuck bani you're kicking up my imagination with that last line
anyhow it's hard to give a shit and care about the characters when they're all sodding idiots, I couldn't relate to any of them because of their stupidity, maybe a little with ben but that's it
They promised a totally logical scientific or at least pseudo scientific result, instead we get meaningless crap thrown together in a shitmix, mythology didn't work at all, and then came magic and ridiculous bullshit that makes no sense.

Ok, that's acceptable but:
Spoiler: | The island is real in real life and everyone on the plane died on impact, right? They were still on the "island" because it was really purgatory and they had to let go, correct? |

nope.
Quote: | everything that happened from seasons 1 through 6 was real. the only thing that was not real was the sideway flashes in season 6 which were thought to show another reality in which the flight never crashed but it was really purgatory, heaven, whatever. the fact that they're all together there eventhough they died at vastly different times (jack died at the end there, but others lived on happily for many years) is simply because it's heaven and there is no concept of time there so it doesn't matter when you died you can still show up there at the same time as someone who died 50 years earlier. |

No I understand it perfectly. I know exactly what I was watching. The flashes in the final season (not only the final episode) were the only ones that took place when they were dead. I'm sorry, but you're the one who obviously hasn't gotten it.

I disagree:
Spoiler: | That wouldn't make sense that they all continued with their happy lives. Kate would have found new love and after dying she would have been with her new husband and kids and not with Jack. I think they all died at the same time, thus staying young and being together. |

While the fact that they didn't get on with their lives, is a little weird, in this particular case, there isn't much room for interpretation, since the answer (that everything did in fact happen) was pretty much spelled out. And it's still possible that they just didn't find anyone more important in their lives than the people form the flight(even though that's a little sad )
Also I wouldn't like it more if it was all in his mind. It would allow the Island to be left unexplained, but "it was all a dream" ending is even more of a cop out then what was given, it would just make everything absolutely meaningless, so I don't understand why some people would have found it better...

Thing is Writers rejected the theory that the island was purgatory at first, and when it was time to come up with some real writing to explain things, guess what they rush and turn to fan theories.

What the fuck are you talking about?
You can watch it as much as you like you dingleberry, I never said that anyone who watches it is a moron.
I stated my opinion on how they wrapped it all up, reason I kept watching it after season 3 is because it was supposed to end at season 4 (or 5), before the writers got mroe money and just kept on going without explaining anything.
The reason anyone would keep watching is because of the hope they would eventually start giving answers as to what the island is, what was the black smoke, why was the island so important etc. etc.
They never really gave any of those answers, at all, they just threw more questions at you.
So yeah, you can call this show the best thing since sliced bread but I find it to be a piece of garbage due to how they ended it all.

no, during season 3 they said it will end in 2010 after s6

I guess it's just me but I never expected that. Maybe it has something to do with the producers saying in interviews 1 or 2 years ago that numbers and some other stuff can't possibly be explained in a logical scientific way...
and before someone gets those articles from 2004 back out again, don't make a fool of yourself, no one should believe they had it all figured out back then.
Quote: | So yeah, you can call this show the best thing since sliced bread |
I don't, it had his flaws and i'm not a fan of the "moving on" end. It was still good though, I agree with fraich3:

Meh, for better or for worse I think its kinda sad that its over now. After season 3 I never got my hopes up that high for Lost, after that it was just enjoying the ride I guess, never read to much into it. After all its hard to reach to much into something that doesnt really apply alot of logic for alot of stuff. Loved the setting for it though, and I can kinda dig the whole "character development" thing though it is kinda weak compared to what they build up. But yeah, never taking it to serious is the key here Razz
So for me it was a halfway decent ending to a fun show. |

I clearly remember when the show started that the producers or whoever said it was only going to last 4 or 5 seasons and that it was more or less already written. That's what kept me intrigued during that time, yes, it might have changed but fuck them and fuck the show, fuck them very hard up the ass.

That's not true, listen to the first three seasons' DVD commentaries. They state multiple times they have no idea how it will end. Only when ABC squeezed them that they started working on conclusion, and this is the shit they could come up with.

The first three seasons were written up front, the last three were written later. For me personally, the also marks the point where it REALLY went downhill. I still enjoyed the show, but I also stopped expecting a clear explanation of what the deal was with some subjects

Funnily enough I felt the same way about Zeroes, I too watched season one and loved it, along came series two and I was gone.
And for the record the island, Church nor sideways flashbacks purgatory.
Jeeze!
The reality is like most tv some people got something out of it, other's didn't.
I respect both parties though, all I would say is go back and re-watch it as some people's impressions of what was going on are WAY off.
