I was actually looking forward to this game but dear god those game play videos really turned me off.

The graphics are not that great for a new game, the physics and effects look awful.

The animations are pretty stiff looking especially the fighting and the gun play looks stupid, seems like the only thing they got going for them is being able to do different things in missions which looks allot similar to the way it was done in ME. I will pass on this one, might pirate it considering there are not many games worth playing at all lately.

The graphics aren't bad.

And who cares either way. I really hate graphics whores. "OMG DIZ WONT MAXXX OUT MAH AWSUM PCZ!!!1!!!!"

That's part of the reason you see a game with amazing graphics and NOTHING ELSE PRAISE-WORTHY IN THE GAME. (looking at you Far Cry 2.)

Far Cry 2 could have been awesome. I still don't understand why they didn't make the gameplay more varied, it would have been pretty simple

I hate dim witted people who take a snippet of your post and paint you to be a "graphics whore" and go on to quote something that you never said.

Why don''t you take the rest of my post and decipher it threw your mush brain and let us know how you comprehended my other gripes, it is really amusing.

And wtf does far cry 2 have to do with anything? Jeez take your pills.

This.

I can stomach whichever kind of shitty graphics as long as the gameplay is *good*.

i dont really think the gfx etc is shitty... think it'll look better when you play it, unless u want some new hot gfx, but then your probably looking in the wrong place for that kind of a game.

What exactly looks so good about the gameplay, if I may ask? They keep saying "action, action, action" repeatedly in the interviews, and the shooting mechanics of the game look like awful console crap (with a huge-ass crosshair and an ability that allows you to shoot 5 bullets at the same time from the gun Laughing), and the krav-maga animations look hilariously bad (enemies get sucked in toward you so the animations sync). So we are left with the story and branching dialog and options, which you have seen very little of, and know very little about. So please do show where the awesome in the gameplay is.

You said you were looking forward to the game until you saw how crappy the graphics were. Yeah, you talked about animations, but ultimately that also goes back to a purely visual aspect of the game. If the graphics alone changed your mind, then you are a graphics whore, sorry. I don't have a reading comprehension problem, you have a thought processing problem.

If you aren't a graphics whore, maybe you should, oh I don't know, not post rants about how the crappy graphics have changed your mind about wanting the game, and now you're only going to pirate it. Just a suggestion.

You should also figure out the difference between threw and through before you call someone else stupid.

The crosshair would be awful in a game that doesn't factor skills into its gameplay (which is the case of a lot of the so called RPGs of today). But in a game where skills matter a lot, I think it's a fair trade-off to see how the skills affect things and how wide a spread I can expect my shots to have. This is a positive for me since it's an action-RPG. The animations look wonky, yeah. Doesn't have much to do with gameplay though if you ask me. Definitely not enough to impact it much one way or the other at least.

We know quite a lot about branching dialogue and options (which I might add is a part of the gameplay in RPGs) actually if you've followed the game throughout its development. There have also been previews, some early reviews, one of the guys that did Czech translation etc that have all praised the game for its extensive choices. There's also the fact that we can choose to go through the game without killing anyone, or we can go through the game killing almost everyone (including most of the bigger characters). There are also the different approaches in the combat, stealth, gadgets.

As a guy who values player choice a lot, these all add up to quite a lot. I'm amazed at how people praise Mass Effect in comparison (not pointed against you particularly, just generally speaking). But I guess that's the power of the looks, because apart from the graphics it looks like it has far less depth to its gameplay, far less interactivity with the plot, and ye standard fantasy/sci-fi story of ancient evils rising to devour the gameworld. Alpha Protocol looks a lot less polished, that's for sure, nor do I think it will be perfect by any stretch. But it looks like a far more interesting (and more interactive) game if you ask me.

Well put,sir. Smile
Mass Effect was good on it's own way,but the choices were nowhere near as complex and far reaching as in this game(or so I read).

Choices, what choices? Razz
I'm replaying Mass Effect 2 now as full renegade (aside from here and there), and it is remarkably similar. They say a different line, but result is exactly the same.

Indeed, the choices I said were only minor...like saving someone who is of no matter to the overall plot. only to be greeted in the second game and getting some extra experience points or similar.

The game still followed the same path no matter what choices you made. Sure the crew members can die(and so can you),but that affect will only be seen in ME3(unless they take the easy way out and kill everyone nonetheless).

If there's one thing I don't like about Bioware games it's the weird choices.. You choose something like "Okay, fine I'll do it." and he starts talking about how his wife and her sisters used to tie him up and rape him for hours or some other random shit which had nothing to do with what you chose.

And that there's no real consequences for them.

Really? I must have made the wrong choice - DAMN!

So, I tried again, and it turns out that the wife and sisters were paid to do it by SAM and MAX, sorry for the spoiler, but the guy did end up wishing that everyone chose the 'Okay, fine I'll do it' option in the end...

This times infinity.

BioWare *and* Obsidian are both guilty as charged for this. Mass Effect and the KoTOR saga were the same; you'd see a choice on screen, select it, then the protagonist would say something completely and utterly different! Not just more filler or perhaps extrapolation of the words seen on the choice menu, but often a completely different outcome!

Gaaaah. I hated that with a vengeance, so let's hope this time the visualised choices end up being exactly what they look like.

It's a multi-launch, as far as I'm aware, so it will be the same time as consoles;

27th Australia, 28th Europe, 1st June America.
