Can someone recommend me a small c++ compiler (preferably free) working well on win7 64bit? I just need to write down and test out a number of small console applications.

If compiler is all you need, you can't go wrong with GCC. Smile

Well, I'm guessing a more appropriate word was 'builder'. A c/c++ builder. I need a simple graphical interface to build a few console applications/small programs. I'm helping a friend at the uni who have just started learning c/c++. I'm not that much into these languages but what is being required of him I can do which he can't. Laughing
I remember, millennia ago, at school we were developing on borland/dev c++ builders. That's roughly what I need.

In any case where a complete development environment is required for Windows, I always recommend Visual Studio Express or better.

http://www.microsoft.com/express/downloads/

The Express versions are free, and are still the best development environments available.

Some friends of mine use PellesC, if you don't want the bulk.
