Thats what I want to find out too.

Graphics are fine, even if the 360 version looks a little sharper, its not going to be a showstopper for me. But if the PS3 suffers from bad slowdowns, then I will just get the 360 one, if they are the same performance wise, I will just pick up the cheaper copy when I buy it.

The Xbox version also suffers from slowdowns. I've noticed it a couple of times when being near cliffs with a lot going on. Once you move away or stuff dies, it goes away.

I'm assuming not as much as PS3 basing that on the previous version of this engine being generally about 6-10fps higher on the xbox.

Again. Where are you digitial Foundry???

Got my legit version posted from shopto today so hopefully be online tomorrow.

I've beaten the game on the 360 and only noticed a single slowdown -- and that occurred in a rather odd incident in which there were a ton of wolves and bandits attacking me at the same time.

yea there are snakes. when you hear them stop and look at the ground. they kind of blend in and dont really look like rattlesnakes. they look more like coral snakes to me but they are in the game. they will strike you if you get off the horse and get close to them but i have yet to see them strike my horse. the other night i deliberately walked back and forth on one to see if it would attack my horse but it just kept wiggling around.

It depends on how you classify "slowdown", but I have experienced noticeably lower frame rates around Armadillo in some instances, and even more in Thieves landing. The Xbox-version certainly isn´t free from lower FPS either.

So after playing both versions last night, and reading all the posts on various forums I sold my ps3 copy to a friend, slowdowns and jaggies killed it for me.

Happily enjoying the 360 version now...

whats the point of breaking in wild horses??? when they die or you forget to hitch them everywhere, they're fucking gone and you get given back the initial slow one when you next whistle....also, no way of telling the stats of the one you gonna try and break either.

better to buy the one you want, then you get it back if or when it dies.

Hmm, when I left my broken-in horse unhitched and called for it later, it came back just fine?

But yeah, there should be some indication on the quality of the horse.

You'll need to break the higher level horses before you can buy them though, else they just stand as Not Available. After the three fast horses(Black,White,Pearl) are broken it's a good idea to just buy them though. The deed for them never expires so you'll never have to break any after that.

ah i see, i have the pearl but wondered why the black and white were 'not available' - makes sense, and its a fair enough rule on the gameplay...will break them in just so i can buy and have them permanently.

Is it safe to assume that the black and white horses unlock in Mexico and Blackwater (?) or are they all available within the first region?

man, I played the PS3 version today got a sneaky look Smile at a retail copy, perk of the job. Good god, after playing the 360 version it looks crap. What is going on it looks filthy.

I have a PS3 and 360, so can't really say I'm biased. Still, I don't understand why the PS3 version should fail like it does, maybe they just didn't optimise the engine so well, or 360 was the lead dev platform? Who knows. Weird some games like heavenly sword and Uncharted 2 look awesome.

Still I'm getting my 360 pre-order in now. I notice the Amazon pre order for Golden Gun is like £75 for 360 but only £50 for PS3.

Well, being a criminal, that's what I mean.Smile

Well, you basically have a statbar with Dishonor -------|------- Honor. As you do honorable things you gain honor, and the slider moves to the right, as you do dishonorable things, you loose honor (the slider moves to the left) , but actually gain dishonor-> meaning you won't give frack if you act like a jerk and rob people and stuff (so you get a lot more money that way as opposed to helping people).
You might get stuff to do like, breaking into banks and join gangs. I'm guessing that's your "playing as a bad guy" bonus, maybe more. Can't say for sure, playing as a honorable gunslinger here. Very Happy

Have you been living under a rock for the last four years? Almost all PS3 games use that "vaseline filter" (technical name: Quincunx). While the X360 GPU can do MSAA with ease the PS3 GPU can't so most developers use that blur to soften aliasing. It has been covered a lot on sites like digital foundry.
