Game just bugged out for me the second time.
Suddenly I stand in or under the world and am stuck.

Both times were when I was trying to bring a Bandito bounty back to Chuparosa alive.
Mind you not the same location though.
In game menus won't show up anymore either.
But it lets me run around a small bit if I get off my horse.

Game bug? Bad burn? Dunno.

edit:
This way I at least got a reason to stop playing until friday when I get my PS3 version Very Happy

Either that or it's pretty much the same as with breaking horses. You can break a horse as many times as you like and it's still tells you that "new items are available for purchase".

Just had another "crash"
Was in a mission in Mexico, had to ride shotgun on a wagon. Pressed a to skip the ride, screen turned black. Stayed black.
:/
This game doesn't wanna be played by me anymore.

edit:
Did I mention that at one point my horse just keeled over dead. While I was still riding?
No shots fired, no wild animals, didn't tap the a button to sprint.
Was actually a very nice gallop through the scenery and all of a sudden bam, horse dead and I go flying. wtf game? You no like me no more? O.o

The very same thing happened to me. I think my problem was due to a bad burn, because after burning a new disc I haven't had a single problem.

Getting my legit copy on Friday, really looking forward to progressing the story. Haven't really bothered with much else than free roaming and mini games as I'll have to restart the game anyway.

Metacritic take on PS3 Version

Score:................... 95

Metacritic take on 360 Version

Score:...................95

btw, I froze the 360 version in exactly the same spot then swung the camera around and guess what?
SAME.
What seems to be obvious from these scores is that some sites/reviewers/subscribers bias towards the 360 and some towards the PS3, nothing new there then. Smile

Just wait a few more days for digital foundry to do a real comparison. Then you'll know.

You all do realize that I already posted a side-by-side comparison and proff that the PS3 one runs sub-HD, 2 pages ago, right?

And I don't know what Twobells keeps this up for. It's like he thinks they look at technical details when reviewing games.

And Reklis, to answer your question. I say TB is trolling, as he keeps repeating the same (dumb) shit over and over again, even though I proved him wrong. That kinda sounds like trolling to me. Or ignorance.

hmmm, cheers for the info.

I am not gonna get the game until a week friday (payday woo) so I will wait and see if anything else turns up.

I personally just want the best playing experience be it on the PS3 or Xbox.

here's direct comparison of both versions http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=21355476&postcount=704

don't miss comments between pics that let you know what else is inferior in ps3 version.

Quote:
LOD is a lot more aggressive on PS3, change in geometry and object pop etc are a lot more noticeable.

The frame rate is much worse on PS3 too.

It is definitely NOT better than GTA4.

It's just that the nature of game makes frame rate issues less noticeable.

(You drive 200MPH in middle of crowded city in GTA, where you ride horse on barren wasteland in RDR)

Probably one of the worst port ever.

Funny how RDR got free pass from IGN when Bayonetta & Lost Planet 2 got picked for their flaws.

will be interesting to see how that twobells guy will try to spin this in ps3 favor.

Thanks for a good linkage, I think that pretty much settles it, especially if there are frame rate issues as stated in this thread already. Hoping for the PS3 only users that Rockstar can patch it up, but doubt it.

I was half inclined to buy it on the PS3 because I dont have many games for it, but seeing those screenies is really swaying me towards the Xbox version, and thats before I think about possible framerate issues Sad

Although as I am waiting until a week later, I am sure other comparisons will pop up D:

It does! But isnt this the same as with the PS3 version of GTA4? Where you had to turn off the smooting option in the games main menu?

Sure there wasn't a snake lurking in a bush? I didn't realise there were snakes until my horse dropped down dead.

Once you open the whole map up, is it possible to drive the train?

Did he keel over on a straight or did he die after going down a slope?
If it's a slope he probably died from falling.

Dream on.
A post by some subscriber on the NeofGaf forums hardly constitutes veracity.
Those PS3 shots look like he's spread vaseline on the lens. Smile

Nah, I will make my OWN mind up and take what Metacritics says into account..which is that the PS3 is easily as good if not better than the 360 version.
(Remember that three quality review sites gave the PS3 higher graphical scores., none of them associated with Sony or the PS3)

This whole fan boy bs reminds me of FFXIII and how the 360 crowd responded to the fact that it suffered badly from raster artifacts, I played the game on both machines, didn't notice any 'jaggies' and enjoyed it equally on both.

So PLEASE excuse me if I don't take those 'example's' too seriously. Wink

However, I will eat my words IF when I get my PS3 copy there is a significant inequality between the two platforms and Horrordee can put a little hat on my account signifying I was sent to the back of the class for defending the indefensible.

Whatever man, enjoy the hat. How you can judge whichever version is better on a graphics score on IGN rather some compare screenshots is just laughable.

I guess they photoshopped out the missing stuff as well?

And yes, the game is just as good on metacritic because this does not detract from the fact that it is a great game regardless of platform. Nobody has said anything about that.

I played the multiplayer mode yesterday, but I am quite dissapointed by the free roam mode. I thought there would be more options. You can basically only take out gang hideouts or shoot other players, or am I missing something?

A few questions:
- When you shoot gang npc's in free roam mode you get some money for it (dieplayed at the top right of the screen). Where can you spend that money?
- You can invite other players to your team. But what is the difference to a posse? How can you join a posse?
- What advantages do you have from leveling up?

No, stop taking what I said out of context, what I said was that I will make my own comparison not take the word of some subscriber who might be biased.

As for Metacritics I have always trusted their opinion simply because it isn't biased, it's drawn from all the reviews available.
None of their reviews suggest that the PS3 version is significantly inferior (as suggested by those 'screen shots') if anything the opposite.
So which is it?
It cannot be both, trust some subscriber who posted on some website or the major players in the gaming environment?

I will balance my own view once I play the PS3 version against the Metacritic reviews/scores.
The game has been available in the states on the PS3 for a day or so now and I eagerly await NFO subscriber comparisons.

I thank you and good night.

noby_95, I think the difference between a posse and a team is that a posse is used in the free roam so you can wander about together and do gang hideouts. I might be completely wrong.

@tb:
No slope, just a long strecht of land but if it's true that there are snakes that might very well have been it. I hear snakes quite often but haven't seen a single one yet.
But since my games decided to go all fuck you on me and crash every so often I'm not playing it until I get my PS3 version on friday.
And seriously? Who gives a damn if the Xbox360 version looks better?
It's an awesome game no matter on what console you play it (unless what I heard about bad slowdowns on the PS3 is true :/ )
