@ nakitu : the important is that we have understood each other. I remember like it was yesterday when i played Baldur's Gate, especially the last expansion, man i spent a full day of holidays in creating my party !

At the moment i'm trying out Demise Rise Of The Kutan, never tried it ?
It's an old skool type rpg dungeon master like, with a nice "aspect" for such a type of game.
I'm forcing myself a second retry becaues the first was 30 minutes long before deleting it for a tech issue (it pushes cpu usage at fixed 100%, but i found a potential solution) Smile
You could like it, even if it's not that deep in character customization (at least in the "skills" field) and it's a very unpopular one.

@ Nakitu : wise words ... wise words ... between job, family and all the other things to do the time for playing has became too little Sad
Btw, let me know how do you'll find Demise.

Oh, I remember this game... Was extremely hardcore (and had some hardcore following). Think Wizardry on steroids. Very, very long and very, ver deep with semi-random levels (a bit like modern roguelikes: part of it designed "by hand", and part generated by computer).

Never liked these kind of games, though. Prefer isomeric or 3rd person view. The only one I finished was Eye of the Beholder (first one) long, long time ago.

Exactly as you say Adaml75 ... today i had to stop playing it (Demise) after a couple of days since it was quite a bit too hard core for my tastes, simply not very fun in the end.
Sometimes i don't understand such extreme decisions when making games ... ok a challenging difficulty, but when it's too much it's too much !
Well Eye of the beholder was a myth Smile
And tell me, did u stop playing the game of this topic too ?

Bad news... the development of Ashes was halted months ago

I finished Book I a month ago and it was very good, especially the soundtrack. A little limited gameplay-wise and short, but as fun as a lot of old-school cRPGs.

Just finished book II. Nice little game, I hope there will be Book III. Took me 24 hours with lots of exploring.
I think it's cool that you can kill everyone, even important NPCs.

Does anyone have a crack for 1.02? I've got the 1.01 but I wanted the fixes and I don't think the patch works with it.

I doubt it'll cause any problems since it's not modified in any way, here's the unprotected EXE I mentioned earlier, funny as I thought a similar release would have been out by now.
(You need the 1.02 data files so download the game/demo from their website and then use this EXE.)

Is the second game exactly the same as the first as far as mechanics go? I bought it, and found it pretty ok, but it was held back by being a bit too simple for my taste (heck, there are bloody roguelikes with more interesting combat and you don't even have to wait for animations to play).

Is there any way to run in the game? Damn this guy walks fucking slow.
But I'm kinda enjoying it.

edited for typos

You can't imagine how many hours I put into this one! It's the "retail" version of Mordor 2. Really fucking awsome game!

I just started playing Book 1 and I gotta say; I'm really enjoying it! Thoroughly immersive, if more than little punishing/unforgiving if you don't pick the right starter skills. I got wasted in the very first dungeon (stairs leading down to it inside the ruined town at the start) by some poisonous lizards.

>_<

Has anyone tried the 1.03 exe placed by Ancient78?

edit: nvm, I see the download is just 200MB or so. I'll try it myself.
