Take a look at the prices for used games (near to the release date) its only a few bucks / euros less then a new copy. I wasnt talking about people that sell their game but shops like gamestop that make a ton of money through reselling of used games. Thats essentially money the publishers lose, especially if its only a few bucks less then a new copy. So now they go after the ones that buy used games to at least get a bit of cash out of them.

your comparison to piracy is utterly and completely flawed.
when a used game is sold that means it was bought new at one time or another in the past, and publisher already got its share. also, when used game is sold previous owner can't play it any more.
maybe trading of 2nd hand stuff should be banned altogether. i'm sure car manufacturers and other industries would be more than happy about this. |
Say that to the developers and publishers who are losing money.
Also, your logic is flawed. Who says a game can only be resold once? I'm sure most used games have already been sold to atleast 10 customers already. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how much the developers/publishers lose because of this.
You can say the exact same thing about piracy then. Someone has to buy a legit copy of the game before cracking and/or sharing it.

Well, that same is true for a book. Isn't it?
Or a music CD? Or a DVD movie?
Why games need to be special? No they don't. It's just matter of ripping people more.

ITS
ALL
ABOUT
THE
MONEY
If game developers are not squeezing every penny out of your paycheck they are not doing there jobs.
In 3 years you will be paying to be able to access your game settings, and next you will pay per level. soon you will be paying by the megabyte, every time you load a saved game you have to pay a fee, every time you save your game that will be 25 cents.

What are you all whining about tbh? This is a good thing. There's not a single extra fee, if you buy games the way you're supposed to.

If I understand this correctly then basically if this becomes prominent amongst all developers then used/preowned games will become a thing of the past. Working in a game retail store all I can see is my job being put at risk because alot of our income (40-50% per day) is directly taken from used sales.

If you want to support the retailer and not the ones who deserve the money, go ahead.

Without the retailer the developers/publishers would be up shit creek without a paddle. Just because you will be paying EA directly doesn't mean that extra money will be filtered down to the developers.

Uhh, what? You're saying that the developers won't get any more money when it goes like this:
Customer --> Retailer --> Publisher --> Developer
than when it goes like this:
Customer --> Retailer.
Sense, you do not make.

they cry about that EA is asking 20$ extra if you buy this game used
10$ for a key to have free DLC + 10$ for a key to have access to live = 20$ EA publisher profit
developers get nothing from this, only a bonus 'IF' the title sold well
