Quote: | eRepublik is a massively multiplayer online (MMO), social networking and strategy web browser game. The game allows players to participate as individual citizens in an online mirror of the real world. It was developed by Alexis Bonte and George Lemnaru.
eRepublik combines both Social Networking and Strategy into a single online game where players can participate in a variety of activities. Citizens of the eRepublik world can own businesses, form political parties, vote in elections, write newspaper articles, and even go to war as citizens of virtual versions of real life countries.
Upon joining, a citizen picks which virtual country he wishes to join. Each of these countries is named after an actual country in the real world, and is located similarly. The citizen then seeks employment at a company within that country, and is allowed the opportunity to train as a soldier for that country. Training, and working at a company is done on a daily basis. One of the main drawing points of the website is that it takes a mere "14 minutes a day" to participate. |
So I have joined maybe a week ago and already I'm hooked ^^
The thing is, I'm kinda using this to 'self promote'. If you want to join click
http://www.erepublik.com/en/referrer/dingo_bastard
on the link. It won't cost you anything and if you reach min level 6 you and me both will get 5 gold. And you can do all sort of stuff with it. We'll also become eFriends
So what do you say? Interested?
There are youtube links, and this is the official wiki: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Main_Page
On the game:
The eWorld:
You can see that some areas are gray. That's because there isn't enough players in that region, so admins don't need to open those regions. The borders of eWorld change almost every day. Every region is special in it's own way. Some have high levels of iron:
Some of wood:
And some of oil:
You need raw materials so you that you are able to build your companies which can produce anything from weapons to gifts.
You can choose what you want to be in your eLife:
If you're a soldier you'll get orders from your commanders and you can even fight in wars:

Oh yeah, I totally forgot! They're gonna install new modules to make the game more interesting:
Dear citizens,
We are half way through our journey! By now you should be familiarized with most of the main concepts and innovations the new economic module will bring. This Insider article gives you a closing overview which will fit everything together and shed some light on regions migrations. But that's not all: you'll also see the first official screenshots!
OK, so what is the new economic module all about? Well, it is about time management, product customization, new industries and new professions. Each of these main concepts enriches the eRepublik gameplay with several innovations. Let's have a look again.
Time Management offers you a virtual 24-hours e-life, and it's up to you how to spend the day. Apart from the Company (working) and the Training Grounds, two new places will emerge: a Library for learning and an Entertainment District for.. well, having fun. The distribution of available hours for working-training-learning-entertaining-s leeping brings the strategy dimension to your character development. You want more money? You want more happiness? You need more health? You want to grow a particularly skill faster? Just allocate the available hours according to your needs! And remember, even though you're managing 24 "e-hours", it only takes a few minutes a day!
Product customization greatly increases the variety of products you'll be able to buy. Because the same class of products, let's say food, will have several classes of layers . The trick is that products will be made of products components and each component influences a different attribute. You can read again the Insider dedicated to this subject here. As food has two components, it influences two attributes: health and happiness. Maybe some day you'll buy food which gives you maximum health and almost no happiness, but next day you'll prefer food which gives you both health and happiness equally, and so on. This is for a product with just two attributes, imagine the diversity we'll have on products with four attributes! Specialization is the key. But products customization goes further by introducing: durability for products like houses, area of effect for hospitals and defense systems, moving distance for tickets, attack/defense and other values for guns. Essentially, it will be pretty hard to find two products exactly alike.
To create all these goodies, we will need eleven new professions. You can read here what profession is used to produce what. Again, the idea is that we'll have a much greater diversity of jobs. We hope that we covered most of the tastes when it comes to dream jobs The actual skills also get a name: it's nicer to say “I'm a junior carpenter” instead of “I'm a 1.15 skilled carpenter”, isn't it?
Many of you are somewhat worried about current companies and regions. As we have said before, no business will be lost, gone, “puff”, so no need to worry. If your company profile is no longer valid in the new module, it will be migrated into a new company. As a manger you receive Customization Points according to the company quality, and from there on it's up to you how do you customize it.
As for the regions, we would like to announce that current regions' importances will not decrease. More precisely, the current Wood regions will still supply the constructions sector with raw materials, but instead of Wood with Stone, so basically what we have here is a renaming. Based on your feedback regarding the pretty rare Titanium, we decided to keep the Iron resource in game, which will provide raw materials for Riffles and Artillery companies. The current diamonds get converted into Titanium, which will be used as raw material for Tanks and Helicopters. So, as you can see, the “hot spots” of the New World not only that are preserved, but some of them become even more important, like the old high-diamonds regions. More about migrations in a future dedicated Insider
And because one picture is worth a thousands words, here we go:
- Profile page picture. Larger size
- Company page picture. Larger size
PS: the game will look like that, but please don't mind the minor details, like why is there that number and not another one.
Stay tuned to find out about the new military module and see how it blends with all these new stuff introduced by the economic module!
Regards,
The eRepublik team
