i dunno, i only played for 3 hours but i found the beta pretty enjoyable. sure the backup system didnt work that good, you where often alone vs 3 bad guys. but still was kinde of fun, and i would think that chaos server rule set would actully kick ass. and the game would probably be a shit load of more fun if you join a guild and start with some team playing.

Funny. I hate MMOs, but this weekend Star Trek Online and APB are going to get some play from me. STO has a demo starting tomorrow I guess, so I can finally see how shitty it is for myself.
Thanks for the link. I have been fairly optimistic about APB until I read this thread ... at least I'll find out for myself in a bit.
Fake edit: god damn, 208 minutes to download this beast. STO was 8 GB, looks like this is around that much, too.

Well, I'm in the closed beta right from the start and I knew already that this game will fail. It's fucking repetitive and totally unbalanced (weapons). The only cool thing, ok, let's call it awesome, is the customization. I've never seen anything better than APB's. I've spent countless hours with designing my char and cars.

STO trial: http://startrekonline.com/demo
It's an unlimited time trial, but two things immediately suck about it. First, you have to download the entire game. All 8 gigs. Second, you only get to play a very small number of missions. Basically the tutorial and one more. After that you aren't able to do much other than stare at things.
Space combat is okay to me. Ground combat is pretty shitty. The ship graphics are fairly good. I like how the name of your ship is rendered on the hull, it looks very nice. I haven't seen 99% of how things are supposed to work so I can't comment on the gameplay mechanics.
You can rename and customize the bridge crew. Helpful when you want to have some hawt alien babes on the bridge ... but in the demo you can't really walk around your bridge. It throws up the "LOL BUY FIRST" screen.
I'm trying to decide if I want to buy it. Probably not going to, but eh ... I dunno yet.
The demo is pretty damn short. Just a warning.
Back to APB -- the fucking server was offline when I tried it, told me to follow the schedule. Killed my excitement instantly. Will try it later. Looking forward to mugging old ladies online.

How do i pause the apb down loader?
I'm just over halfway down in downloading it but every time i stop it, no matter how much I've downloaded.
It restarts the whole download over again.
A bit of a pain in the anus you could say.

This is just a visual bug, it will resume where u left off.

Well their beta testing system is awful...  You have to hunt down the few hours a week the enable testing, LOL. So people probably don't even other. I know I don't.

The reason it is a few hours a week only, is because they really want to stresstest their servers..
If it's open 24/7, then they can't stress test it, since everyone joins at different times.
It's a beta. As a betatester your job is to TEST it and find bugs, not just enjoy free playtime...
I hate you.

edit: FAIL AltGr doesn't work in the login screen, nicely done.. Can't type @ for email address. Worked before the new exe that loaded. Ah paste at least works.

your saying what im not sure... most hyped games as far as im aware are portrayed via trailers etc to be the next best thing since your first fuck. Or am i mistaken here... |

Also have to get everything out of the beta, good or bad never payed monthly subscriptions and doubt I will.

Don't think I'll miss the game, but was nice to play and if more beta time is coming, I'm game. Full game might come repetitive and almost seemed like it's more about socializing than shooting.
