Looks good. Shame there's nothing about the M1 garand stats, though.

Nice, this keeps getting better and better.
Hold crouch system is actually good enough in most cases... but when you are trying to defuse the M-com while crouching, reloading, spotting oncoming foes and strafing around it... it gets a little tricky Smile

What still bothers me in this game is a 6 server limit on the favorites and weapon switch when trying to defuse/arm the M-com - it's hectic enough as it is under fire, without having to figure out what kit you just picked up and if it has any ammo. Not to mention the fact that sometimes it's just plain impossible to arm/disarm it.

Go DICE+EA, fuck IW+Ubi! This is how PC post release support should look. It's kinda funny, for an old fart like me that remembers the sad stories that are Westwood, Origin and Bullfrog to see EA looking less and less like true bastards. Everything is relative of course though, and maybe the support is mostly DICEs doing.

I can't play on dx10 because of the mouse lag, but my fps would be great (vsync was off) and I tried some mouse fixes but nothing that made it feels smooth like it does in dx9.

so maybe these 2 fixes, will help?
Client - Vsync bugfixed for DX10/DX11
Client - Reduced negative mouse acceleration

i hope so, id like to play the game and enjoy all of its beauty Cool Face

oh and that list of fixes is awesome! I bet we'll get a couple maps in less than a month the way things are going. great work!

Have to say the bullet drop on this game is good, thinking about OF2 DR the bullet drop was not that bad either but it doesn't surpass it tho.

You can be banned on specific servers, banned globally across all punkbuster servers and I think the most severe is permanently banned across all punkbuster titles (PunksBusted or what they called that again.) unsure how it works (Probably not just simple IP address.) but if you had to contact them it's probably more severe than just a server specific ban.
(Punkbuster is severe and very restrictive so don't run utilities alongside the game while playing with it enabled, this includes the obvious such as trainers, even if it's for offline use only, and loggers or other utilities but also programs like FRAPS or anything that hooks to the EXE and can be detected by Punkbusters various scans, Fraps.exe is probably whitelisted along with Xfire.exe however but I used it as a example.)

They're also supposedly pretty elitist and refuses to bend over so appealing can be difficult.
(They've only recently sort-of supported x64 with a compatible, still 32-bit, client plus other stuff like that, I'm not the best at what they've done and what others have experienced but I've heard a bit about it.)

more about
Gameplay - Weapon tweaks have been implemented based on PC public feedback

Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.
The G3, VSS, and all SemiAutomatic rifles now settle slightly faster between shots when aiming.
The PKM, Type 88LMG, G3, An94, and 40mm shotgun have returned to their former glory.
Increased the damage of the MG3 to bring it in line with the rest of the LMGs.
Fixed a bug where the Saiga12 with slugs would do too much damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where the SVU would do too little damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where M95 rounds would not kill armored targets with headshots.

For the two of you that dont get it. AN94 has been buffed in the last patch. By "returning to their former glory" they mean they'll "nerf" it back to the way it was before the patch.

A and B are the two semi-hidden services punkbuster installs, not that hard to remove but needed for the protection to work, I don't know what they do but probably something with access and permission to sidestep UAC prompts in Vista and similar plus updating the PB version if needed and other stuff, needs to be running constantly or the protection will complain when trying to play on PB servers, not that demanding in terms of memory and it's not like they transfer personal or sensitive data so they're sort of harmless. Very Happy

EDIT: There's a FAQ on PB's website explaining it better.

It stopped telling the Punkbuster servers that it was still running. Thats what a heartbeat is.

I have PB problems all the time. Not the heartbeat error, though. I get PNKBSTRB.exe "handshaking failed"

The only way around it seems to be to kill the PNKBSTRB.exe process while in-game, then delete it from /system32.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has officially exceeded 5 million units sold world wide. Thanks to everyone who has supported Battlefield and bought a copy. In other good news we can officially announce Onslaught mode coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Onslaught is bringing co-op gameplay to Battlefield for the first time on console. The new game mode puts you and up to three friends against the enemy on Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes and Nelson Bay – redesigned with new lighting, time of day, added vehicles and other effects. Each map has a dedicated gameplay focus, requiring different levels of teamwork in order to complete the objectives against an onslaught of enemy AI. Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault. Players can compete in squads and check individual progress via the dedicated Onslaught leaderboards.

Senior Producer Patrick Bach had these few words to say about Onslaught mode “We want to consistently support the fans playing the game with new ways to get into multiplayer and also challenge the elite players with new experiences to improve their performance online. Effective squad play is the key to success in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer and this new mode will provide players with a dedicated environment to test their team skills and rank against the competition.”

Onslaught mode will be available on Xbox Live and on the PlayStation Network.

Sounds awesome, too bad they are only releasing this for the consoles... seriously wtf.

Sticky on EA UK forum

Quote:
Battlefield Blog

The question of "What about PC?" is coming up in the comments quite a lot already so this is what the situation is.

No, we haven't signed away rights to console on this.
The problem we have on PC is that all our servers are dedicated with providers. Changing a server from Conquest 32 players to Onslaught 4 players cuts out 28 player slots from the total ammount available. This could have a dramatic affect on the PC online environment if enough servers changed to Onslaught.

We aren't ruling out Onslaught on PC but at this time we are researching how to bring it to PC without affecting players who don't have Onslaught or their own server to run it on.
