I have mixed feelings about this game.
Graphics wise i think it's not that great and story wise well.. i guess you like it or not for me i dont know yet, slow pace and the guys covered in darkness i find a bit odd to say the least.
I just completed chapter 1 and i'm gonna play some more.

Haven't heard anyone bitch about the 640x480 graphics yet.....
That Meijer store selling earily copies would have been a 6hr drive North for me.
There is a college campus in Kalamazoo and I'm pretty sure I've been to that store.
I tried awhile back to buy something that got released early at a local Walmart. For them don't even bother. There computers lock out the tag that get's scanned and won't allow any customer to buy it before a certain date. They pulled this shit on me when I tried to get the Xbox Elites they had put on the shelf early. Meijer however is another story. I don't think they care.
Personally Meijer would be the last store on Earth I'd think about going to buy games. You can get them cheaper someplace else.

Although I have a massive hate-on for screentearing normally, it's actually not that bad in Alan Wake (well, I've played about 45mins of it, and it's not so bad so far). We'll see how I feel about it in a few hours though.

I'm pretty sure the first time I moved the camera there was some screen tearing.
After that I didn't notice it any more or it was not there. o.O
I'm also feeling a bit sick now, so it's either due motion sickness from the game or it's a side effect from my cold. :/
My first impression is mixed so far. I like the atmosphere. But the dialog isn't really great. Feels so clinched. Graphics are what I expected and it's kind of strange to aim with your flashlight.

Noooo!!! My tracker is down! OMG! This sucks! I have been looking forward to this game for a very long time. I am doing public now and it's horrible speed. Oh well, I will get as much as I can an then have my tracker take over when they are back up.
Cannot wait!!!
MD
Edit - OMG, my tracker just went green! Wow, that was really scary!

Just finished episode 1 (first three levels) and I am loving the game. It is a bit inspired from twin peaks and david lynch movies. I love the story and atmosphere very much. I guess some of the team from remedy are lynch fans. Also the song "in dreams" from roy orbinson is in there which was so great in Blue Velvet. Epic moments. For me there were some. Well whole game for me was epic. Don't want to spoil anything...
Might be one of the best games of the year.
About tearing: It is only in some scenes where there is much light difference. Technically the game is 100% ok. Solid frame rate and the lower resolution isn't apperent most of the time.
