i will wait for a proper non steam rip version.

Interesting and as usual funny when compared to the EU price point.
(Unsure what the UK one is, here it's 29.99 Euro so I got a retail copy at quite a bit lower that cost)

Too bad steam is 2x the price, otherwise i would have bought it there, i really like that you dont need the CD and you have the game within 20 minutes (100mbit FTW)

If you buying the standalone version it will use a different key.

£19.99 in the UK, $29.99 in the US and €29.99 in the EU, work that one out.

Well the UK and US are paying the same but EU are paying 10 bucks more. (Because everyone hates smelly euros.)

I'm aware that £20 is $30, my "work that one out" was for the poor EU pricing, I probably should have worded my post better tbh.

so p2p release is just gta4 with DLCs slapped on? does that mean Vice City FM isn't available? at least on 360 Vice City FM is only available in stand alone version of EFLC.

Nah I deleted my post as several things were inaccurate, from a first glance it looked like GTA IV with the folders TBoGT and TLaD for the DLC content for each episode and then a few extra movie files.
However this didn't match as the previous GTA IV movies (Well, TV shows and such.) were absent and after further checking several other files were altered as well.
Seems to be the "base" of GTA IV with just the episode content but it still uses those two separate folders for most DLC related stuff.
(I guess the LIVE Marketplace DLC works in this method of being a sort of addin to the main game however.)

iirc you're missing some reg files if it's crashing on the Rockstar logo.

I think the p2p release is a Steam rip of the standalone package, with a hex'd version of razors gta iv launcher.
It works as long as you manually add the reg file etc, but I don't feel like downloading 16GB when I'm pretty sure they can get this DLC working on top of an existing GTA IV install.

You can, but you would need those LIVE DLC files via Marketplace somehow.
(If the DLC stuff can be hacked what with verification via LIVE and such, hard to say how it works but I think it's similar to the stand-alone just with the GTA IV folder structure left alone either for the \Appdata\Microsoft\XLive\DLC folders or those extra folders as the 1.0.6.0 patch is compatible with the addons as actual DLC content and not just stand-alone.)
Bit of a messy explanation but it would also be around 6 GB or so packed compared to the ful 16 GB.
(Disk space, bandwith limitations, bandwith speed or other reasons for example.)

Yeah, I've the DLC folders from the standalone version which comes to about 6GB, was going to try debugging GTA IV to see if I could find and bypass the DLC ownership check but Securom shouted at me. Still I expected something from the scene by now.
I'll be buying it on Friday from Steam anyway, I'll just stick my existing GTA IV folder and the DLC I downloaded and verify it, I should only have to download a few files then.

Many files from GTA IV are absent in the EFLC version (Probably won't hinder anything.) and all files are altered and will have to be re-downloaded if using Steam, they now use a sort of file encryption to further strengthen multiplayer against modifications.
(Version is 1.1.0.0 as I said compared to 1.0.6.0 and patched it's 1.1.1.0 )
(I took the extra movie files and EXE related files and launched the game that way, normal game worked but would not initiate the two episodes, Episodes exe just caused it to crash, using the full folder data everything worked but it's separate from the full GTA IV that way.)
EDIT: Though if you have the EFLC data it'll probably verify correctly.
(Should already be 1.1.1.0 as well from the sources I've seen since most seem ripped from Steam and it auto-updated to this version earlier.)

I'm having the same issue, I downloaded the 16 Gb release and followed the instructions to the letter.
- Extracted
- Copied Crack
- Create the registry value
When I tried to tun it, it loaded until the point of the rockstar intro, then it crashed.
How to fix this?

Do you have the stuff in the \Redist\ folder already?
(DirectX should be updated by now as so many titles use is, get the Feb 2010 release from Microsofts website otherwise as it's a fairly old build, March 2009, included with this.)
Reg info should look something like this when exported.
Code: |
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Rockstar Games\EFLC]
"InstallFolder"="C:\\Games\\GTA4\\EFLC"
"Install_Lang"="1033"
|
(I added the install_Lang stuff as GTA IV used it.)
EDIT: Also go to User/UsernameHere/Appdata/local/Rockstar and delete the settings file as it might conflict if you have a existing one from GTA IV.
(Should work with a 1.0.6.0 updated one however.)
EDIT: Perhaps try the XLiveLess 0.999b1 (Rapidshare link, dll should be 90 KB or so.)
(To verify it's not a LIVE/.Net issue.)

Make sure the InstallFolder string's value is to the absolute directory of where EFLC.exe etc is.

If I delete the settings won't it delete my savegames and stuff from the original GTA4 installation?

The savegames can be left alone, I meant just the settings.cfg file or what it's called.

Well, problem fixed.
The original instructions mentioned the creation of a registry key in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rockstar Games\EFLC
When in fact it had to be created in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Rockstar Games\EFLC
