I get the feeling this game will be as huge as GTA IV was at least 14Gigs.

From that page is says "Hard Drive: 16GB of Hard Disc Space" which should be fairly accurate as Steam installs the data directly.
(8 GB per game if they're stand-alone from each other as well perhaps?)

No purchase button on Steam for me, release is in two days. Not available in my region then?
Though I guess there's no reason to buy it unless they've fixed the engine.

When will Steam and other publishers stop ripping off their Euro-using customers? Protest by pirating!!!!

$29.99 = €22 with todays rate. They're stealing another €8 / $10 for no reason.

Hм, so according to the comments there, the patch made the shadows look good, but performance has suffered badly...

Why are you complaining? The patch fixes the game in my opinion! So there should be better preformance.

I'm complaining because Rockstar did a piss poor job at making this port.

I dont know... even though console´s video cards are shitty, their cpu is quite powerful compared to a medium-end pc.

Reports so far say that the new shadow settings kinda halves the previous patch performance results but the extra stuff do look very nice at least.
Also this restricts modding somewhat but doesn't lock it out, mostly about securing MP so more mods will probably be incompatible with it and as usual all current tools will need to be updated, some authors behind them like Alexander Blade is still around whereas say creators behind utilities like XliveLess or various ASI or script loaders haven't been heard from in a while.
(Trainers and similar stuff like first person mode and more advanced things so a lot is currently on hold until some stuff is updated or so, some already are like mod package tools and similar.)
The guy behind ENB went a bit crazy from this patch as well and blames Rockstar for poor support and bad work and has stopped his work on it, although various fan made configs and other mods make it work somewhat with the new patch.
(I guess MP itself will soon be hacked again as it seems to be somewhat of a sport to some, unfortunate as the MP would be fine without people always abusing script mods to spawn stuff and cheat which has gone a bit over-board lately apparently based on recent forum discussions.)
I've no plans to reinstall GTA IV and get the addons that way, will get the stand-alone retail version instead.
(Kicking out Rockstar Social Club requirements is a step in the right direction, SecuROM is OK and can be cracked once the triggers are found, perhaps a few crackfixes might be needed as well haha, and maybe the old "leaked" launcher still works that removes that disc check annoyance if it's still in place, mostly used visual mods and that first person camera script myself so it's not a huge concern about modifications, trainers and enb were fun to play around with though but won't be missed that much, heh.)

Unlikely that the leaked launcher will work since the launcher has been updated this time. It includes the Social Club now.
