Was reading about a couple of mine accidents (China and US) where there were a lot of casualties and had to think how it would feel to die like that. Trapped there with limited light/air and hoping to be rescued. Time running out and yet it would feel like an eternity to contemplate your end. I'm sure there's other equally bad or worse ways to die (protracted illness is another) but this one is up there with the bad ones.

Probably any type of prolonged physical torture - if the perpetrator had some medical knowledge, he could inflict some serious pain and damage and yet keep you alive for days or even weeks.

Having a serial killer smile into your eyes of pleasure while you feel your life is ending, making your life and death so worthless that it only gives satisfaction to a serial killer.. Like a used can. That death anxiety must be utterly horrible during your last minutes of life.
Rape-murder for a little girl is probably among the most horrible ways to die as well, the psychological torture making any kind of physical torture meek in comparison.

worse way to die? dunno, id say being a soldier with the serbs etc and having your own stomach cut out of you while your made to still stand up.. pretty horrific shit..

Actually, those miners probably died pretty fast. Either you get crushed by the rocks, or you quickly run out of oxygen / carbon dioxide poisoning.
The worst way to die would be any number of horiffic things the Japanese did to Chinese and US soldiers during WW2. Vivisections, biological testing, you name it they did it.
"Prisoners were subjected to other torturous experiments such as:
being hung upside down to see how long it would take for them to choke to death.[11]
having air injected into their arteries to determine the time until the onset of embolism.[11]
having horse urine injected into their kidneys.[11]
being deprived of food and water to determine the length of time until death.
being placed into high-pressure chambers until death.
being exposed to extreme temperatures and developing frostbite to determine how long humans could survive with such an affliction, and to determine the effects of rotting and gangrene on human flesh.[11]
having experiments performed upon prisoners to determine the relationship between temperature, burns, and human survival.
being placed into centrifuges and spun until dead.
having animal blood injected and the effects studied.
being exposed to lethal doses of x-rays.
having various chemical weapons tested on prisoners inside gas chambers.
being injected with sea water to determine if it could be a substitute for saline.
being buried alive."
Not even the Nazi's did shit as horrible as the Japs did.

All pretty bad ways to go but they all come under the same heading of torture and that by itself is not something pleasant. I was thinking more along the lines of death by natural causes or if it is indeed a result of un-natural causes (man-made or otherwise) not intentional.
And miners sometimes get trapped in shafts/caverns and then it is a race to rescue them before air runs out or water levels rise. When the Kursk sank, not all the sailors died immediately. They found farewell notes written by some of the survivors who died later.

British soldiers also were tortured by the Japanese in POW camps, even documented that POW British and Americans were kept alive whilst having limbs and strips of fleshed removed so that the Jap soldiers had something to eat when the food ran dry.

Some drunks in a neighbourhood town pushed a girl so she fell under a buss by accident and got crushed.
That´s probably one of the worst ways to die.

Henry VIII used to torture and kill conspirators by tying a victim up and lowering them very slowly into an eight foot copper kettle of boiling water.
Luckily the heart would stop due to the shock. Sometimes though they would awaken and find the flesh hanging from there legs and feet, exposing the skeleton, leaving them to die in slow agony. Sometimes for as much as a day.
