who receives and who doesn't receive the beta key depends on the ( your ) system specs.
They are trying to test the game on as many PCs they can.
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I don't think so, even Mac players who opted in FROM Mac OS got in the beta during the first wave and there isn't even a Mac client as of yet !

I have all games you can have on a blizzard account and didn't get in.
Neither did some of my friends who also have all the games.
It appears the games you have don't influence your chances, which I find to be pretty lame.
As a long time blizzard supporter I should have priority over some guy who just tried out wow once and doesn't even care about starcraft 1 or warcraft

yeah that's definitely not it.
they should be going for dedicated players who will spend a lot of time with the game and as such have a higher chance of encountering and reporting issues.
People who don't really care that much might play the beta for 2 hours and decide that they don't like it (people who sign up for betas and treat them like demos) and quit. that's not good.

I'm just sayin.
I still have access to the beta through some friends who did get an invite, but I'd prefer it if they gave priority to people who buy their games. Would only make sense and make both sides happy.

Good god, someone's jealous. Show me an official statement where blizzard claims that only players without actually buying previous games cannot participate in the beta programme?
And another thing, the selection of beta participants is completely random. So it doesn't mean that you've got more "right" to play the beta if you've bought every Blizzard game over someone who only owns Warcraft 3.

Official Battle.net Beta Opt-In FAQ:
Quote: | I created a new Battle.net account, but I'm unable to opt in. Why?
In order for a Battle.net account to be able to opt in to upcoming beta tests, you must have at least one Blizzard Entertainment game attached to the account. Please note that the World of Warcraft trial edition does not count toward this requirement. |

i do remember it said you do need to own at least 1 game in your bnet account, NOT counting trial. Where that was, i don't know (where in battle.net i mean). I do however remember it clearly.

*gak* Ok, point taken. Never read the faq, just activated beta when i got my Battle.net account.
Still, you (and everyone else who is whining about it) should just accept the fact they got their accounts by chance and no-one has more right or chance to get a beta account. Just random selection among the complete pool of players.
You even might not get selected at all during the entire beta period. Get over it. I'm still waiting for mine either, and that's what i'll do till i (if i) get it.

sure it's a beta and it's random. the point they are trying to make is that it SHOULDN'T be.
you just dont shit all over loyal customers/fans is the point surray was trying to make. get over it? already have. is someone entitled to it for being a long time player/blizzard fan? entitled... no. common courtesy tho could be brought up here maybe heh
but you don't just give any ol' asshole access to a beta. it's not a demo, it's a beta. it's for testing. who better to test than fans of the game and/or blizzard and long time sc players.
this is the 3rd wave and i still haven't been selected. in fact i've quit caring, i dont even want to play anymore. i did the hacked beta thing and enjoyed it for a while. SC2 could be one of the most anticipated and sought after sequels, ever. for them to have handled their fans and the situation the way that they have is a disgrace.
anyone who says otherwise clearly didn't spend a good portion of their youth playing it on battle net at 8 - 12 hrs a day.
