Why would anyone bother to play RPG with google translation is beyond me. Anyone care to enlighten me and tell me why it's not retarded?

first of all its not all google translated. i done quite a hard work with some friends to translate some of the dialogs and game mechanics, system, to start playing and have fun. simple "good work" is enough.
no , but you have to cry like a little bitch that someone just cared to do some work.
FY!

First, because there are a lot of great games which will never get translated, this probably won't be case with Drakensang: River of Time, but my point is still valid if we look at how many great japanese RPGs (*far* better than the usual jrpg final fantasy-ish shit we get) never came to the states - check the link in my signature if you want more info.
Second, because this patch is *far* better than most automatic translations I've seen - and I can assure you I'm used to play games with text translated so bad it's almost unreadable. And that's definately not the case here.
And skolo666, thanks for what you've done so far.

Yeah the English version could take a while what with the expansion being prioritized or so I believe will happen, hopefully it'll be part of the English release but that could be like end of 2010 or even 2011 sometime.
Here's a few images from said expansion (And the game in general.)

Berlin developer Radon Labs, among others developer of the successful RPG-series The Dark Eye: Drakensang, filed for bankruptcy with the district court Berlin-Charlottenburg on May 12th. The lawyer Joachim Voigt-Salus of the joint practice Voigt & Scheid in Berlin was appointed for premliminary insolvency administrator.
As CEO André Blechschmidt explained to GamesMarkt, the funding of recently announced "Drakensang 3" couldn't be achieved in the short term, because a financing-partner backed out. Subsequently, insolvency was the only remaining alternative, said Blechschmidt. The situation in Berlin isn't hopeless, though; the studio is already negotiating with various potential investors.
Radon Labs is one of the most prominent and successful German studios of the past years. Well-known is the company especially for the games of the "TDE: Drakensang"-series, which are marketed in cooperation with the publisher dtp entertainment. Just a few weeks ago, Radon Labs announced their work on the third part of the series. In February the partners achieved a number-one hit with "The Dark Eye Drakensang - The River of Time".
The Hamburg publisher (dtp) presently assumes that the insolvency of Radon Labs won't have negative effects on the completion of the expansion "The Dark Eye: Drakensang - Phileasson's Secret" (ETA August 20th).

I received a reply and everyone can calm down, the English localisation will not be affected.
If you're still concerned just contact DTP for confirmation if you're industry, do NOT quote this, just ask the same question.
DTP who are not affected by the Radon Labs bankruptcy have factored the localisation into their financial model for the game.

Bigpoint has taken over Radon Labs, Drakensang 3 confirmed.
http://worthplaying.com/article/2010/6/4/news/74702/
(Unsure about the status of the Drakensang 2 expansion and the localization of the original game and said expansion, probably later this year if ever though DTP remains positive based on the previous comments.)

DTP seems to be thinking about it but I'm unsure when it's planned, Autumn would be a decent guess as well as launching the expansion for the game in Germany but they also have that Divinity 2 title planned during that time frame as well so I'm unsure what'll happen.
Also the patch is out since some time ago fixing various issues and a updated translation file for it would be needed to be compatible with those updates, it's also been properly cracked, probably by 0x007 though I don't remember the release group at the moment.
