Isn't settlers quite linear too?
I mean i don't think it sends a code every time you make a building or when you play in sandbox mode

Thats exactly what it does.

It looks like AC2 is the easiest target of them so far. The AC2 engine didnt change since AC1 so i think it would be even doable without a values.db. But still its alot of reverse engineering work.

Not that I know how it's done but a crack or similar workaround would indeed be nice even if just as a backup option should the servers be down.
(Seeing as there's like 1800+ triggers in AC2 makes things a bit complicated however, SH5 must have a lot due to it's open nature and Settlers as well I imagine, Splinter Cell might work better as would other more linear titles like say Ghost Recon and Prince of Persia.)

SH5 might not have more triggers if the DRM is "streamlined" across the different games. For now all these games might have the same amount of triggers. The problem, as you said, will be finding all the triggers in SH5 since its so large and non-linear.

I think the problem is that settlers has a very low fan base. Games like ac2 pop and splintercell get cracked faster because theres alot more people working on them

What a pitiful review at IGN.com. A disgrace...

The guy keeps going on about how hard it is to grasp and about the slow pace and that it's hard to figure out... I mean does he even know what Settlers is??

It's like they pulled a guy from God of War, Halo or some other console game and all the while he was playing he kept waiting for the quick-time event to pump more coins or some shit...
I used to think people were overreacting when they raged about consolification and retarded console fanboys but "reviewers" such as this douche are proving that rage is justified...

The game is good, not great but there are a lot of reasons he could've mentioned if he had played and not just acted like a bored 5 year old with ADD.

well imo the last settler game was more interesting then settlers 7.

Imo settlers 7 looks like its heading into consoles or something.
buildings are now connected to production houses etc.
Feels akward. You cant really build the big city anymore imo.

Yes, it's already more simplified, but his main negative is that it's too complicated and the learning curve is too steep... GTFO

Are you a man or a mouse veemon? Very Happy
Im a fan since Settlers 1 on the Amiga! and I'm not gonna buy with the current DRM requirements of being online constantly to play/save a single player game Mad
There is still a bunch of people who bough it that still cannot even play. Their forums have over 10,000 posts from people who has problems with the DRM Evil or Very Mad

I just dont see this geting cracked to be honest.
The problem is that ac2 had a huge fan base who sent in their data to help the game geting cracked.
Settlers targets a more mature audiance who doesn't seem to be interested in a crack

you are not giving it time, the "crack" needs data so in order to have that data someone must play the game right?and by the looks of it not many people have played the game becouseof Ubi's servers.play something else and in a while i'm sure that this game will get "cracked"

I only had problems playing the game on Good Friday. After that, no issue whatsoever. Nice thing about it is that the retail version came both with PC and MAC versions. And with save games synchronized I can play on both =]

Yup. And because I've bought games from them before, I've used my points against it and got it for £11.29 SmileSmile

Ain't worth bothering about a crack at that price....Done deal! Very Happy

I really don't give a rats ass about the DRM now. If my connection goes down, then I'll be more worried about other things than this game.

If the Ubisoft servers go down and I cant play, well I wont lose much sleep over it to be honest, even if I haven't saved my game Smile - It really isn't the end of the world lol!!

Not ideal, but suits me otherwise Smile

This is just the game i would have purchased tongiht...

you see we are moving in 2 days.. and could be without internet for 5 days.. so it would have been the perfect single player game to play in that time..

But hey ?? fuck you ubisoft.. no money for you.
