I draw the line at iPhone. Maybe the screen is decent, but FFS... if I wanted a tablet I would have a proper OS.

The only kind of tablet I'm interested in is the Ebook reader. The Ipad isn't good enough for that, as its contrast kills your eyes. The Kindle is to restrictive. So hopefully we will see an alternative in the not to distant future.

The niche of the iPad definitely lays in its target audience - Those who usually dont use a PC, the casual crowd, which looks like the proper segment as always witnessed by the sales chart. My own interest in the deviec lies in it's comic capabilities.

yeah I know, but there isn't one yet that does what I need. The closest is the Kindle DX. What I want is a big screen 9-10 inches is the minimum, strong battery-life, a virtual ink screen (or similar screen-tech) and finally support for most popular formats.

The kindle DX looks good but I would have to order it from the US and have it shipped all the way to Denmark. If it ever broke its gonna be a nightmare to get repaired.

Think I'll skip a generation and see what comes up later.

That's probably smart; some of the Iliad models would suit your specs, but they cost a fortune still the last time I checked. And of course there's still some issues with all ebook readers currently out there, I'm happy with my PRS-505 but once the new generation hits I'll most likely switch it.

It'll probably get upgraded somewhere in the near future. I'll grab mine when it'll support multitasking and Flash.

How did you get one in the UK? A body building budy?

I plan on getting one on UK release for reading comics Very Happy! I'd get an e-reader but B&W obviously makes it pointless. Tbh, its only about £100 more than sonys e-reader.. not too bad.

you know fuck all. nuff said.

you do realise the reason you think "Adobe are lazy" is because Apple is actually denying access to top-level hardware acceleration apis, meaning the reason flash runs badly in comparison to on a windows machine is because of cash guzzling Apple and their inability to work with others.

and something written in 2003 which is still true today

I know fuck all? Actually, I have to avoid the crap flash causes on almost a weekly basis.

Flash should die because it's a proprietary solution to a problem that only exists because of the fact that people didn't want to write Java applets due to MS fracturing the compatibility and stability promise of java. Apart of the slow, unstable, unopened source core of it, it is also a huge security risk. You can look at the numbers, 60 or 70% of the exploits found in the browsers is because of flash.. Yes I may own 3 Apple systems, but still as a multiple OS user, including big variants of distros, the flash player is among the buggiest applications.

Its absolutely fuck all to do with Apple. HTML5 and its features will make flash just another clutter of the internet. Mark my words Smile HTML 5 is a very nice, multimedic standard and it WILL succeed and it WILL kill flash.

The only time when Apple come into this is simple: Once again, its just Apple acknowledging an age old system that needs to die much like when they killed the floppy drive and everyone else followed suit eventually.
