I guess I'll have to sustain my party on slave trading until I can join a faction.

EDIT: wow. Killed off a desert bandit party and after that, one of their hideouts appeared on the map. Cool. Very Happy Getting that money and manpower infusion from Paradox really helped them.

thats first quest.. dont get ur hopes that high.. but ye serious lack of bandits :<
No, that first quest was for 'looters', not the desert bandits (I started in Swadia). The second lair was generated randomly. And I'm 99% sure there will be more, since I failed to raze it and the game said they fled and will set up a new camp somewhere else. So I bet after defeating a few more parties, a new one will pop up.

i saw few others my self, but i thought its for mission if you start in other zone.. might try attacking them...

I get this when starting the game:

"A serious problem occured inside the display driver."

I'm using nvidia 196.21, should I update? Thing is, I tried to enable "edit" mode to see the error, and it don't crash! I don't want to play in edit mode :s

I have one question: in multiplayer, are there any RPG elements (aside from buying equipment)?

Yeah, LAN as well it seems. It checks the cdkey even when connecting to a LAN game so offline is not working for me, anyone got a workaround for this?

So like, fuck Steam. Is there any way I can manually update my game from 0.860 to 1.0 (or whatever the current version is).

Here you are dezztroy, will update the beta client .860 to retail 1.1, you then need the above Skidrow update release over that to be fully up to date.

And to be a bit more convenient here's those files as well minus the EXE/Crack.

This might sound hypocritical, but I don't approve of cracking indie games. Especially when people complain about not getting the multiplayer.

Agreed, this is the first game I bought in months. Sure thing, I did get the scene one first, but after a few hours, it seemed like a really nice action multiplayer game.

Client and server downloads, also acts as a demo similar to how the first game handled it if you don't use a serial.
(Grabbing this and Skidrows little patch release should also work.)

Starting to get pissed off now. It was supposed to release 10 minutes ago now (after they ninja-edited the release from 30th to 31st) and it's still not out. I want my goddamn game that I paid for.

Once again paying customers get shafted.

Edit: Now an hour has passed. Oh well.

Anyone else annoyed by horse combat? Hard to keep your character from twisting around like a friggin action figure when you're trying to slice through someone's skull.

I honestly can't see any improvement over the original game. Other than it now looks really, really outdated.

It was uncomfortable at start, but once you get used to it, it's much more flexible. Now you can do all the slashes on both sides, not just left on left and right on right. For example if an enemy horseman is riding on your right, it's much more comfortable to make a front-to-back swing, instead of the back-to-front as it was only available in the original.
You just have to look a bit farther to the sides when fighting and the character will stop jittering around. Since the game allows all arrack forms to be made on both sides, it has to decide which one you ahve in mind and if you look straight forward (as it was comfortable in the original), the slightest deviation will cause a side-switch.

Also, couching takes some getting used to. Now we can aim the tip of the lance, even on the left side, not just the right, so now it's not the matter of perfectly aligning the horse to make a kill. You can just ride in the enemy's general direction and can still score a hit. In turn, now they can use couching much more effectively as well. Standing in the way of an enemy cavalry charge isn't as safe as it used to be.

BTW: is there a relatively easy way to win favors? After a very long time, I finally managed to win the favors of a lady, but her father is adamant at staying on 0. He won't issue quests, he rarely rides out and those times he never gets into any fights where I might come to his rescue...

Fuck her in teh butt. Cool Face

Loving the game, can't wait for Prophesy of Pendor and other large mods to get ported to it.

And yeah, another thing they changed with mounted combat is now you can change the "altitude" of your swing. You can for example swing at your chest level, to score some good hits on enemy cavalry, but you'll do nothing but miss foot soldiers.

It's not bad, but it does feel kinda tacked on after a while.

Still, mods will eventually come, even in the beta we had a "Onslaught" kinda mod, where you and other players hold out against endless AI waves.
