Mhh, the official forum is a bit silent (4 topics on hints and tips, lots of bug topics though)
Is the game worth getting into already or is it better to wait for a patch or 2?

This game is great i am still running everything on auto learning the ropes just fighting wars and inciting rebellions.

And i found an abandoned World destroyer, so i repaired it and it took ages... and when it was finished my empire split in half and i lost it to the usurpers and the traitors declared war on me along with everybody else FUCK!.

I still love the game, though I ran into a bug that prevents savegame sizes over 50mb to load, which basically killed my empire.
So I'm hoping they fix that soon as thats a gamekiller.
As I wrote in one of my earlier posts, the game isn't for everyone, and I'm sorry if anyone of you got the impression that it was.

Just started it, really does look like a great game with alot of depth. Might actually end up buying this one.

Looks to be quite a learning curve though. The game might not be as complex as Space Empires or some of the others, but it's gonna take some time to figure out what everything does, and what's useful and what can be ignored. For now it seems discarding all the computer-constructed ground units was a good call, since it gave a massive boost to my income. Hope I won't need any in the near future.

Thanks epsilon. I saw this days ago but hadn't had time to try the game so wasn't sure if the music would seem unfitting or not in my eyes.

It's verybad.

Alienhand's music is very good. I d/led it the other day at work to see what it was about (sounded like something i'd like) and just ended up sitting there listening to it while I wrote.

You give 10 minutes to a 4x game and then conclude that it's a boring game with crappy graphics?

Why bother getting it in the first place?

Btw, patch 1.03 public beta is out for those who are actually enjoying this good game.

yeah thanks for the update

can't...stop...playing

i've never been this involved in a 4x game. the micromanagement always took it out of me. now I focus on various interest points while my empire slowly rolls over all that is before it.

How do I add the music into the game? Just throw it into the Distant Worlds/Sounds/Music directory and get rid of the old ones, er what? No instructions in that thread or with the files.

Put the mp3s inside Customization like this - "Distant Worlds\Customization\Alien Hand Music\Music", then go in game and choose the new music in the mods menu.

Gotcha. Overlooked that Customization directory somehow. Thank you!

I added some classical music as the soundtrack. Its awesome.

I wonder where I can download the public beta of the version 1.03 outside of their website... it seems to fix some memory leaks.

The game is good, but there are many bugs.

We can give 100.000 credits to another race and get 150.000 back. I havent seen such developer failure in long time. And even if the diplomatic trade is fair, you get increased reputation, so doing this over and over you can get allied to everyone. Silly.

The economy is broken too, you just need to make explorers, discover where there are the Colonial Planets and colonize them, then find luxuries and mine them near by, then keep taxes low and soon enough you will have dozens of times more than you will ever need.

Loving the "refit fleet" button they added. Runs a lot smoother now, too. 1.03 is a success.

The 1.03 did make the game a lot better and smoother! I would just hope they make the ship designer a bit more fun with the next patch. As it is right now it's way too easy to get lost in it.

Yes, it's very nice to see things patched up. I really really hope this company survives and thrives, as there aren't many companies that have the guts to make strategy space games.

wasnt able to start with either patch (or unpatched). Reinstalled clean (including deleting folder obviously) and patching + copy over all crack files (all 4), only to get a program has stopped working when clicking play.

PS : Windows 7 64, BIE release (english). No clue what to do :/
