i get this all the time.. no pings showing. im using win7 too. how can i run this in admin so that i can see if that fixes it? thanks |
I had to make a new shortcut from the install directory. One of the things I hate about win7 is that it makes shortcuts for games in a start-menu subfolder; "Entertainment" (translated), which cannot be edited...
So browse to your installation directory of BC2, mine is standard, it's;
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2\BCUpdater.exe
In the folder right-mouse-click this file and drag it to your desktop, release, make shortcut.
Now right click the new shortcut, select properties, click on the tab compatibility and tick the lowest box, 'Execute this program as Administrator". And finish with OK.

dont know if this has been posted
hi guys,i need help with the browser filter,if i want to find populated(no full or empty),ranked servers running punkbuster do i check the boxes or leave them unchecked as it doesn't seem to make much difference

The browser is fucked beyond belief.
I have yet to notice checking punkbuster doing anything. It still finds servers with AND without it no matter what selection I make in the filter box.
The browser is horrid.
Game is excellent though.
1 stripe purple belt in JiuJitsu (good grief this takes FOREVER hahah)

The ONLY BAD PART ABOUT THIS:

Isn't it amazing, EA can afford to do this? BC2 sold really well and continues to do well.
So did MW2, but it's still 60$, 10$ more than BC2 on release, and it hasn't got a reduction yet. One sale, that lasted like a day, and that was 30$.
BC2, less than one month after release, for 20$ on sale, despite not being a failure and most likely taking Multiplayer FPS of the Year award.(Good chance, but 2010 is still young.)
EDIT: It appears to work for ANY EA GAME OVER 39$

You can turn it off completely by editing the ini file.
It's in the BFBC2 folder (not where you installed the game). |

I've had this game since release (retail) and its worked fine. Having changed nothing on my system it now not working. When I try to load the game I get a white screen, black screen then a "this program has stopped responding" type message.
Anyone know what the hell is going on? I've tried all of the usual things I think, still nothing.

I've had several ctd since yesterday, never had those before.
And only when using the server browser, never while ingame

Is the game up to date?
(Run the updater utility first, some patches have had problems but if you play online frequently you probably have the latest one already.)
Can't think of much else aside from perhaps deleting the settings file and letting the game recreate a default one or checking the display drivers if you updater those recently.
EDIT: Ah right the server browser has been problematic but I thought that was patched.
(There's also a new R8 server side software but it shouldn't affect any of the client side stuff.)

I'm running the game through STEAM so I assume it is upto date, I will check the updater though, see what that does.
I've deleted the settings and updated my GFX drivers (the game had been running fine with the previous version, figured I'd try the new ones, not fixed things).
