So who is going to participate ? |
Seems to me you live among some very great people! I'm using my Xbox right now, so I ain't going to cut the power.
And I can 'afford' to, since I don't eat a lot of meat. Animal husbandry and factory farming are pumping insane amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere (methane rich cow farts and belches.) Which most people are unaware of, unfortunately.
But killing the lights for an hour does make a powerful and visible statement, so I think it's a wonderful initiative.

You know people who don't?
Earth hour, what a joke, just another way for people to feel all smug and good about themselves, without actually accomplishing anything. Kinda like praying. |

Which is why I chose to eat less meat, which makes a real difference. It really wasn't that difficult, because I was already eating less red meat when research showed that it will cause colon cancer in the long run.
And since I read Safran Foer's book Eating Animals, it dawned on me modern factory farming is nothing less than some kind of animals' Auschwitz. That's not the kind of industry I want to support with my euros, so eating less meat is a no-brainer for me.
The two or three times a week I do eat meat, I only pick the best and exclusive organic meats. YUM

I eat a shit load of meat, I fart a lot, I smoke, and I didnt turn my lights off.
When the earth fails with a big blue screen of death, feel free to blame me.
