Boring piece of crap, that's it- I'm no longer considering Guy Richie a great director.
Just like in Rocknrolla and Revolver, I was sitting through the whole movie waiting for the awesomeness to come, saying to myself- "It's the guy who did Snatch and Lock Stock, there probably going to be at least few genius scenes here", but it never did .
Rocknrolla and Revolver were OK though. But Sherlock Holmes is definitely a new rock Bottom for him. Generic and boring shit.
My theory is that Madonna is a succubus who sucked all his creative energy and left him swimming in a pool of shit... Hopefully he'll regain his strength back some day... |
hahahaahah
expecting a "guy ritchie movie" from such a classic theme as sherlock holmes is like complaining about the predictable ending of titanic. Or complaining about that the lord of the rings is nothing like the earlier peter jackson movies (e.g. brain dead, bad taste) No offense meant, just an observation that i found hilarious.
i actually liked RocknRolla and Revolver, but i also think that his earlier movies were "better". But i loved every second of Sherlock Holmes and i d go so far as to say, that it's the best adaptation of the sherlock so far.

He definitely tried to make a guy richie movie there, with the same camera shootings, amartass rhetorics by the main character and slow-mos. Yet failed.
If he couldn't do this right, then he shouldn't make such movie at all.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Guy Richie - Guy Richie? This is how he knows to shoot, this is his style. Very rarely you can see people escape their trademark style properly. Usually when people try to do something very different from how they are used to, it turns out really bad. So why should he set himself to fail? He just did what he does, one a story that might not entirely fit for that style. I think he did rather well.

Anyway, I don't know if you guys saw the same movie I did, but I was bored as hell and wanted to puke from the lame-ass Illuminati story, and especially from Jude Law.
That's it, just my feelings about the movie.

As compared to which adaptation and how many have you seen? Surely you jest? There can be only one and imo Jeremy Brett is the definitive Holmes!

I was expecting something funnier but Woody Harrelson was fuckin brillant in that movie. |
Really a great movie. It had funny parts, dramatic parts and also some tense scenes and all of them worked IMO. Considering this is a low budget debut from a first-time director and that Woody Harrelson's acting is indeed "fucking brilliant", I give it 8,5/10.
Best superhero movie I've seen since "Dark Knight".

Shutter Island - 8 / 10
I have a personal grudge against Leo, but this movie was really well made, and he outdid himself in the lead role. Scorsese has done one of his best movies in Shutter Island.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

She's out of my league - 6.5 / 10
If you like romantic comedies this is a movie you should check out. Not super original but well made imho, and what flaws it had atleast i was able to forgive them.

Law Abiding Citizen - 7/10 - Great film that lacks that little extra oomph to set it apart from the top tier.

No shit sherlock
There are easier things to get this right from the beginning. For example. They are on a boat... for quite some time. And suddenly there is a guy he didn't see while getting on the boat and he is his partner? That was pretty obvious.
And there are other, visual hints, that he is crazy. For example the old lady that they interrogate asks for a glass of water. Just look at her hands while she "drinks" the water. There is no glass at all.
All things, that I saw while the first time so that it was to easy to know that he was insane
