Why not here? There are a lot of usenet users here on the hump. For pr0n you could use kleverig.nl . If its about direct nzb sharing then you could look out for a newzbin invitation, check nzbsites.com or search google for "nzb forum".

As far as I know, discussing usenet is allowed here, and linking to usenet search indexes is withing the rules.

There's only two things you need to know about usenet:
1. the Dutch and the Germans spam usenet with movies where they've removed audio and subs in any other language than dutch/german, and they rarely tag them accordingly!!
2. Usenet has gone down the drain with all the passworded crap being uploaded.
Extra: it's still lightning fast if you find what you need that isn't a trojan.

Huh? Nobody knows who's uploading what unless you use your actual nick/name when you upload. Usenet providers (you should check their about-page) don't save info about who uploaded what, hence the service being anonymous.

Thats not true. Mostly all usenet providers log uploads for the obvious reason. Downloads are anon indeed.

Lol, well I looked into Dutch usenet providers.
They all keep logs since they are obligated to do so by law and these logs can be confiscated by law.
So it is really no use to pay for a insecure usenet provider here better get a Russian one or so.

Yes but as youve seen from posts here not all providers are save. Some log and give out data and some log but dont give a shit to DCMA notes. I dont know which one is save since i am a pure leecher but if i would want to know i would check the headers of the posts from known posters in a group like a.b.x or a.b.games. Check a few posts containing only the nfo´s and you probably will find a server.
You could also use a filehoster like rs, mu, deposit and use encrypted container files like .dlc or .ccf. Google will help...

I've been a giganews costumer for almost two years. I went to Astraweb's site and they sure look good and cheaper...
How would you compare the two services? i'm a bit conferced about astraweb's completion...

I got TweakDSL, which includes free TweakNews. 24Mbit/s speed, 250 days retention and unlimited data traffic. There is a catch, you do have to pay €500 two years in advance. So that's about €20 a month.
Not bad for a truck load of Xbox games and HD movies

Nothing like downloading an entire Xbox game and reading: Unpacking failed, password incorrect! Good way to piss someone off though.

No problems with Astrawebs completion. I constantly max out my 100mbit connection (averages 11.27MB/s download).

+1 on Astraweb, went from Giga to Astra and it's great, and a lot cheaper. Also no removed posts.

20mbit upload. Upstream is always more expensive for ISPs some reason.
ps. my first usenet provider was newshosting and I rarely reached 20mbit download from them, and speed was jumping up and down all the time. Crappy news provider for me.

I used Giganews for about 6 years before switching to Astraweb. I would say service-wise (retention, completion, speed, etc), they are equal. But Giganews are bloodsuckers in the price department to say the least.
Have never regretted that I switched to Astraweb.
