yea, soon gaming will be only for rich people who can afford it..people will actualy have to pay for it (it's not that bad if all the games were perfect , but as well know, most of the games are crap so , i say...pirates forever and let the people test the products and let the crowd decide if the product worth cash)

what a days Smile

Don't know if it was already posted, nor if it's real (altough it' spreading like a wild fire over the net), but maybe steam is giving us hope for a crack soon:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=239684

- A PC games industry insider told us this morning: "It's the latest in the Ubisoft DRM blow-up. Steam doesn't want to lose its reputation for customer service, and these games have angered its user-base."

They just removed the titles and it's only Steam UK that's affected, probably won't lead to them altering the protection in any way.

Some sites around the net are speculating about DRM removal on the UK version, citing valve staff as sources... Sure, it's not confirmed, but it's a ray of hope Very Happy

Sorry but CVG have got this completely wrong. The two Ubisoft games listed have NEVER been offered for sale to UK steam users.

There was even a forum post by a moderator about it dated 03/03/2010 :-

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1173343

For some reason Ubisoft does not allow their titles to appear on UK steam at launch. It is possible they will eventually add them to the UK steam but it may be a year after the launch. Some of us have speculated that it is down to some "retail deal with Game". However these games were never removed because they were never offered for sale for UK steam users.

I buy games because I support game companies and want them to make more. I don't do it all the time, but I try to do it more often. I come here because while I like games, I hate the DRM that comes with it and this is a great place to find out how to remove it, or if it is possible. Also to see what people think of games. Hearing what people who didn't pay for it think of it is more honest, you don't have a bunch of people trying to convince themselves they paid money for something so it must be good. And I come here because I pirate sometimes. Sometimes as a large demo, sometimes because I'm a cheapass. There's no reason someone can't both buy games and hang out here.

About AssCreed specifically, the DRM is odious enough I would go out of my way to avoid purchasing it. Someone got it for me though as a gift, so here I am trying to figure out how to get rid of the DRM heh

The headline of that article is a little misleading.

Code:
Ubisoft saying, "The fact it is not available on STEAM UK has nothing to do with the DRM but is linked to a local business discussion between Ubisoft and Steam in UK."

I think it's just due to the fact that a lot of people are using the weak pound to get the game cheaper, games bought in the UK are almost 30% cheaper, or ~15 euros cheaper than the european tier 1 counterparts.

I've seen a few publishers (Activision and EA) trying to fix this by increasing prices, i would guess that Ubisoft's tactic is to rely on people wanting the game on release day.

Ubisoft will use the DRM for all their future games. I have read that somewhere, so ghost recon and other games get the same crap.

No more ubisoft games for me (bye bye).

all demos of games with copy-protections have the protection also in the demo-exe to make it harder to reverse-engineer it to work with the full game.

that's a relief

Someone actually bought it for me for Christmas. At the time no one knew about the DRM they were going to announce. That was a nice kick in the nuts while I waited for my present.
