Do you have to level up to unlock units? I played a couple game of the beta and uninstalled. I couldn't seem to build but 2 or 3 units. I'll stick with DoW 2 and SC2 when it comes out.

Part of the beta changelog in build 8 or so is that your rank now determines the units you have access to.

its terrible.. if you want multiplayer.. buy yourself live key and stick with dow2 ,
apart that its probably not worth a download not to mention buying..
i dunno if they changed units unlock.. even if they did.. higher rank more units.. thats still pretty same.. than lvling and unlocking ( that depending rank can actually decrease.. if its still same lvlup rank , then that changes nothing, you will get paired.. well there is no matchmaking.. just custom games.. it counts stats but heck.. as newb you get like 3-4 units , and then someone lvl 15.. got huge ass walkers.. shooting out of fog.. where you cant even see.. blowing your shit up before you can even react.. )
not to mention unlocks depends on race you play.. if you play just nod.. and you wanna switch you gotta unlock all gdi units again..
its fun maybe for 2-3 games.. and you wont even have mplayer if you aint buying

It's not just different, it's utter shit.
There's no such thing as balance, air units are pretty much useless against everything. Graphics are the exact same as CnC3. Ugh, it's just terrible.

Should be out later today apparently, requires a internet connection though based on Steam and some early previews so it might be hard to crack.

Keep it EA, not worth the try, no LAN, they have ruined the C&C franchise

I think C&C4 looks quite promising. C&C3 wasnt bad either imo.

C&C 3 was great, got even greater with kanes wrath. Properly one of my favorite games.
I really hated Red Alert 2 back then btw.. ugh.

I liked c&c 3 too. Not the best game, but a good one (7/10). Can't wait to see how the story ends.

more than sad indeed, but we knew and talked about that for quite some time now.
Game has nothing to do with CnC. They should have just called it "Generic RTS w/o resources or strategy 1.1"
+ Even in SP you can spam units to no end .. there goes the challenge lol.

pretty sure it was announced a long time ago but then ubi came with their drm announcement+FAQ and CnC4 drm got nicely swept under the carpet. i wonder if cnc4 drm is also fetching data from online servers like ubi. if so cracking it will be very difficult as we can see with ac2.

yes it doesn't have ubi's drm that require internet connection at all times to play single player.
it has ea's drm that require internet connection at all times to play single player. BIG difference
