why would that be?

UK developper : Splash Damage

they're guys that did ET and ETQW, the later failed cause of noobs who didnt like being thrown in a complex games without tutorials explaining everything.. still was an amazing game, both on pubs and competitvely, small community.

They're apparently resolving the high learning curve "problem" by implementing a system of functionnalities being added progressivly thru the XP system, which would slow down the number of possibilities from the beginning for a smooth progression.

The most usefull buffs would be attainable within an hour of gameplay, which would prevent a lvl1 discovering the game from getting ganked by an overpowered dude with 60 hours of play under the belt..

Anyway, release is set to fall this year..

Great GDC video. Liked the graphical style and character design.
Fast pace shooters with smart button´s, aren't my cup of tea, but will keep an eye on this one to see how it turns out.

lame.

but seeing the new footage @ e3 I really hope they balance the SMART thing, being able to divert your course completely on offense like your using 'noclip' seems kinda overpowered to me and makes defending objectives way harder since the usual paths to the objective arnt as usual since you can climb impossible stuff by pressing one button.

Imo its good if they delay it. I'd rather see a good game than a buggy one.
Most of the people who whine about delays are the same guys who cry if they should encounter a bug no matter how small it is Very Happy

I sincerely don´t get this "good delay" spread wide across game forums.

There are no "good delays" game release wise! As there is no good diseases.

I game should be release on the date is supposed to meeting the standard quality it was aiming for- Having more or less bugs and content /features is another thing, NOT correlated with the deadline.

Why the F should be good to have the game later rather than sooner!!! You can say you prefer a game to be delayed rather than being released as schedule with inferior quality, but why would you consider it good just to be delayed!!

Well, sometimes they're delayed for financial reasons (to avoid competition with other releases, etc.) but yeah, in general it's because they aren't ready yet.

I wouldn't be surprised that delay is to avoid competition. Just look at this fall fps titles. New CoD, MoH, Crysis, who knows what else.

Even if not completely innovative (it's basically a mix between Borderlands and Mirror's Edge), it does look very interesting indeed, proving that idtech4 can still be a competitive engine. Smile

im holding my tumbs for this game, what i've seen so far it might actully be a kick ass FPS game, that got some RPG elements, but mainly it focus on PvP witch is something i love.

Mirror's Edge huh, interesting, personally don't have any memories at all from that game, didn't stick with me I guess, and I still remember one mission from Battlezone which I played like 10 years ago Smile now that's how you know a game was great, it sticks into your head.
