Why would you go on vacation to play games? You can do that at home much more confortably.... there's better things to do on vacation... like getting drunk every single night, and getting back to the hotel at 7:00 am, and sleeping through the day, and start that all over again |
So it's clear.Vacation -> Drinks,hangovers,hotel,no games.  |
Uff, seriously man, is your sense of humor broken or smthing? Obviously I was ironic about the drinks, etc part, of course the booze--> hangover routine I described would be as dull as going on vacation to play videogames, hence the -->
My point was that one of the reasons people used to whine about online activation when it was first introduced was that "they couldn't play it on vacation". That died down pretty quickly and nobody complains about online activation anymore. Now it's happening again with this drm. I find this excuse preposterous, I mean honestly, you don't go on vacation to lock yourself in a room and play videogames, the same way you don't go on vacation just to get drunk every night... it's just bullshit that gives you a "legit" excuse to hate on the drm, instead of just admitting you hate it because it prevents you (and us all) to play the game for free

No it's really more like the fear of taking a day or two off from work to enjoy playing a game only to find that you can't play it.
Like with the Dragon Age release on Steam in which the unlocking took like a day or so for my region. I was raging. That's why when ME2 leaked, I already beat it before it unlocked on Steam. |
I'm not sure I understand correctly what you mean, you're talking about deferred unlock dates, I'm talking about people making up situations where they wouldn't be able to play because they're not at home so they don't have an internet connection available.
I'm 100% with you when it come to different unlock dates, that's imho one of the biggest dick moves a software house can do, as it encourages piracy by "taunting" a portion of their potential customers ("look, yanks can play it, you foreign baastards will have to wait!") I know that sensation very well, I remember intending to buy Doom3 on release day, but when I found out US players got it 25 days before us here in italy, I just downloaded it (good thing I did too, that game was boring as shit).
Also, I totally agree with people pissed off because they can't play due to servers overload etc... nothing is perfect, but it should be the exception not the rule (see when any new big title gets released on steam, servers always get clogged for at least a day or so).
But don't tell me that not being able to play the game while on vacation is a "big issue", like "I would have bought it, but what if I go on vacation and I have no net connection" or "I would have bought it, but what if they do maintainance on my line and I remain without connection for some (short) time?". I've heard both this excuses, and they're both ridiculus.

Whats with people on frequent trips on trains?
Btw, i don't care if someone has no problems with the DRM. With this DRM i can very much understand if someone tries to boycott it on pure principle

For those that like to freeroam, there is a "91%" (donno for sure how much in %) savegame on the usenet. Just look for "bom-91" and u can freeroam in every city.

Whoever gave me the hint about using the gun at the end, thanks.
Good game, much better than AC1. Too bad the story is left wide open since it's the second part of the trilogy.

Shouldn't we be happy about a "semi open" ending? I mean todays games plot are kind of weak...
For once you can't guess the end of the "movie" after the 10 first minutes...
