The best part? The DRM has already been hacked! That means unscrupulous pirates are able to play the game without having to deal with DRM at all. They get off scot-free while legitimate customers have to jump through hoops to use what they actually paid for. That'll teach you to spend your money like an honest person.

yeah where is his source then? more like HP sauce... brown sticky and yeah shit...bullshit..

@Mister_s Actually the DRM is cracked. Those triggers are the problem and permanent change of informations with the servers.

Huh? So that means the DRM is cracked? Would you consider a simple TAGES 'crack' wihtout taking out the triggers cracked too?

Good review, they should've mentioned the weak AI though.

That's the real DRM of this game. Those triggers are extra protection, not part of the DRM. Tages is a whole different problem than this online requirement.

Eh what? You disable the internet connection requirement so the tiggers kick in. That's the protection. Tages works the same, but instead of a inet check you have a disc check.

I think the metal gear series is the most awesome stealth game series and one of the best series ever made. Still, no real connection to Assassins Creed beside a very loose term of stealth... no point in comparing the two

I'm not a big fan of MGS, but I know how other people think of it. Claiming it defined the stealth genre is a bit much.

Every MGS is a 10 hour movie with a ridiculous plot and like 40 minutes of oversimplified stealth.

+1. Probably the most overrated game series ever. The story in those games are unbearable for anyone except maybe someone who has never read a book or is 10 years old..

Why man, you dont play games only for they story like you do with books. Even if the story is weaker than a good book, the action weaker than a good movie and the music may not suite your taste, the sum of all that combined with the level of interactivity can make it feel superior to other forms of entertainment. MGS3 was awesome Sad

I prefer Splinter Cell over MGS. O'course, until Chaos Theory. Double Agent could be a good game, but technical glitches, things like the gadget system not working and stuff killed the game. Conviction is looking like a different game using the franchise name (imho: crap.)

I agree, and that's why when I want an excellent story, great stealth gameplay, and perfectly suited music composed by amon tobin, I go and play Chaos Theory.

Clancy hardly has anything to do with Splinter Cell anyway. But lets be honest, Chaos Theory and great story? Laughing It is one of these rare occasions where even if the story isn't that good, the overall package makes up for it big time. Smile

It's a great story if you consider the genre, it's not an rpg or an adventure game, NOLF has a great story as well, considering it's an fps.

Assassin creed is a different kind of stealth game then MGS or Splinter cell is.
AC focuses on social stealth where you "mingle with the crowd" and try to not stand out as you do what the average guy does.

In reality thats also a very interesting ideea. It would be hard to find some one in a marketplace full of people, unless he stands out by climbing walls or runing through the place

reading on the reclaimyourgame website it seams that quite a few devs and publishers like 2K are loosing patience with DRM, citing that there is actually an upturn in software sales once the DRM is relaxed or moved, especially true for titles which sell in mid and low numbers.

Certainly I haven't bought AC2 since on a notebook the wifii can drop out easily especially since there is a touch control near the lid which can switch the wifi hardware on and off.

I see also that the latest AC2 patch addresses the save game problem when the connection drops out. This seems like a bit of an admission that this form of DRM is not sustainable on a public network system which as yet isn't stable enough.

Also doesn't this make the retail disc unfit for purpose and marketable value. I should think Ubisoft could have an issue with this also.

yes but this is the first time a game is constantly calling home the whole time when playing, i just dont think it will ever be cracked, SF took over a year and even that didnt have the constant connection issue.

never getting done, untill i get proved wrong it's simple as that.

Yeah and not only that the controls seem to be more easier with the 360.
