good for you a can't understand some people, they read about the new DRm from Ubi stuff like this:
"Ubisoft may collect information regarding the user’s behaviour, and his/her use of Ubisoft’s demos and games to better adapt our products and services to users"
and they really buy it...what are they thinking...mann Pc gaming will be great from now on...they will collect information about my behavior how cool is that.
i will not buy something that collect information about my behavior...

I only see 2 out comings. This DRM works and they stay on PC market, probably releasing again the games at the same time has on consoles or they lose to the pirate groups or the bad PR and just walk away leaving the PC. Choose which one you prefer.
|
Leave.. please, for god's sake, let them leave. I might even help them with a friendly kick in the ass on their way out.
Seriously? Anyone thinking that they make or break the PC scene is hopelessly dilusional. If UBI leaves the PC game market, then dozens of small companies will jump on the opportunity to fill the gap left by them. It is how the current economy works. As long as there is a demand, there will also be service.
Oh, and do not kid yourself. If the PC scene would not be profitable, they would not bother developing games for it. Thats the most ridiculous thing in this whole affair: they threaten the community with leaving if you do not go out and show them that piracy is indeed not a problem, by buying their games.
I say that companies like UBIsoft have no place, not just in the PC game market, but in the business at all. What happened with the basic business principles, like treating your customers with respect, the customer is always right and the likes? Am I the only one who is sick of being treated like a spoiled 12 year old kid by the companies that live from my money? |
The pc clearely is profitable otherwise people would stop developing games for them.
Only by looking at wow wich has several milion players playing shows that there are milions of clients out there ready to buypc games.
In fact valve stated that steam has over 20 milion accounts made by people who purchased at least one game.
Finally there are things such as strategy games wich can be ported on consoles but they just aren't that fun.
Imagine starcraft 2 turnament played on consoles and what kind of gameplay and micromanagment you would be having.
3d Shooters are another example. The best 3d shooter to ever come on a consoe is considered to be "halo" wich is a mediocre shooter when youcompare to other things that you have on the pc.
If the pc wasn't profitable I doubt ubisoft would invest monney in order to make this ridicluous drm wich revolves around having a maintanence for servers and huge ammounts of hdd space as well as bandwith.
As long as a compan gets more monney thei invested then its profitable

You know that battlenet 2 will pretty much do the same thing, not to mention that in wow blizzard is allowed to read your whispers, private chat, guild chat etc.
So are companies like msn aol yahoo, just read the therms of service for a while

and they are understandeble...if you want to use yahoo you must have a internet conection,if you want to play wow or play on battlenet you must have a internet conection...but AC 2 is a single-player game and it doesn't need a internet conection to work...the DRM needs the internet conection, there is a difference

this diff is, if ur looking at yahoo and playing on battlenet, you shouldnt even give a shit if ac2 needs connection as its always there anyhow..

If when the servers are working your still having issues connecting, have you checked your not connecting via a proxy? - there's information on how to connect via proxy in another thread. |
So ? The servers are still down, AS I SAID. Great.

-No, as I said, I dont use any proxy.
-Yes, as I said, I already did contact support, I did 2 times by e-mail, another 2 times by the phone, and I'm still stucked. All they say is that they are working on resolving the issue to try to fix it up asap.
Excuse me, but as far as I see, a pc-game by 59,95 €uros has been sold to me while it is not functional, I point this nothing but a fraud.
I do not personally have the game, so I can't check if the servers are currently down ( - but I'm assuming they are ? and it's not a local problem?
The only thing I can say is if they are working on it, then that's all they can do Frown
Seems to have been down a long time though?
If your not happy with that, and you have every right not to be, maybe contact the store or failing that support and ask about a refund on the game? |

Servers respond fine here but there are different locations of them depending on the region you are in. (Or what the program detects you are in, IP based probably.)
Of course a week ago the EU server was down whereas the AU and eastern Europe servers worked fine so it is fully possible some regions are having issues although it's a bit of a problem if it still happens, might understand launch day and a while afterwards creating problems and overloading the servers a bit but repeated downtime is a bit odd as I doubt it's using much traffic and it also uses very little bandwith.

that sort of crack could be doable though its wether someone is going to go to the trouble and bother with such a apache type server verification installed on users machine and the addresses in the game being pointed to the local machine instead
fingers crossed this is how they do it in future for cracking this shit cause it would be a epic fail for ubi..

If the bitching is loud enough they will dump it like starforce.
And then eventually come up with another protection that probes the users ass because it's checking your dna if you are a pirate or legit, French bitches never learn.

This gotta hurt for Ubisoft. Pretty much any sites allowing user votes have them at a ridiculously low rating, despite the fact that most people seem to enjoy the game alot. The amount of sales they're losing because of this must vastly outnumber the amount gained by the few people who don't have the patience to wait for a working crack.
