my copy should arrive tomorrow.
not sure yet if I'll be able to take a break from final fantasy 13 to try it out. it might have to wait a few days.

Where's the love for this game? Everyone should go buy it now!
I've played it for about a week now, and it might just be one of my favourite games of the year so far. The side missions are nicely varied, from having to carry ice cream cones for someone or finding someone else's cat. Or blogging about a crazy grandma on a motorbike in order to gain new moves.
There's tons of fun stuff to do, don't let the cultural barrier or cut game content put you off.

So, it's like GTA in Japan? I watched the gameplay movies and did not like the game much.

you don't even drive cars in this game so comparing it to GTA is pretty far fetched indeed.
both games offer an open world to explore but that's where the similarities end.

You can't compare this game to anything because it's like a mash up of everything, but that's what makes it so unique.
In my opinion if you have any interest in any of the following...
Shenmue (for the adventure style)
GTA (for the free roaming)
Final Fantasy (for the RPG aspect)
Streets of Rage (for the Beat 'em up gameplay)
Animal Crossing (for the collectables)
Any Bowling/Golf/Pool/Darts/Baseball/Karaoke/Casino/Arcade games, they're all in there too.
..then you should not overlook this game. There's just an abundant amount of things to do. The demo does not do it justice. It's definitely quirky in a Japanese way, but that's why it's so charming.

Does anyone know if Yakuza Kenzan is 100% japanese or does it have english text/audio?
Why are they not releasing it outside of Asia??

yeah it's fully japanese unfortunately.
from wikipedia
"In late December 2009, commenting the opportunity of a western release, Sega Australia managing director Darren Macbeth said "there is nothing in the plan at this stage for Yakuza Kenzan. Right now we are focusing on the release of Yakuza 3. The feedback we get from this release will help us in making future decisions""
so who knows, maybe they're planning something after the decent success the english version of Yakuza 3 got and it'll come over some day.
wouldn't be the first time a japanese game is released in english after a newer game.
for example, in japan there was La Pucelle, and later disgaea, and in english we got Disgaea first and then because it was successful we got La Pucelle eventhough it was like 2 years older than disgaea.

What's the size of the US version of Yakuza 3? I know the PAL version has ~21 GB. Is it correct that the US version is a few GB smaller?
