Are there any games similar to Haegemonia and Nexus The Jupiter Experiment made recently or ones that were made after 2008?

Wow, glad to see a fan of these two games. Smile Nexus is still one of the best space tactics game and is still quite pretty.

You might want to try Space Wolves 3, but I found it pretty meh (as far as I could get in it, it was overly linear and restricted, didn't have the endurance to find out if it opens up anywhere along the line). You might have better luck with it.

Also, even though not 2008-or-later game, but Homeworld1-2-Cataclysm, obviously. There are some pretty amazing mods for #2.

Oh yea i really loved Nexus - a very unique game. I've always wondered if there's anything similar.

That's STAR wolves. Wink
And star wolves is more of a rpg with it's quests, dialogue choices, skillpoints and equipment.

But still I loved haegemonia AND nexus(even though these days it crashes on me),but haven't been able to find a game similar to them.

FFS we need another hungarian developer to make something good. Very Happy

My bad. Smile

That recent Arthur-based strategy game came from us as well, AFAIK. Haven't tried much, but it looked good. Smile

The space strategy genre seem to be too neglected recently. Sins of a Solar Empire might be a good choice as well, and that's fairly recent.

They are by far the best space rts games, games like Homeworld pale in comparison.

On a similar topic I I haven't understood why a game like Eve Online never produced a campaign-based clone.......

Hegemonia is the spiritual successor of Imperium Galactica II, so you might want to try this even if it is a bit older.

About comparing them to Homeworld, I might agree on Nexus, but to be fair, Haegemonia wasn't exactly the brightest kid on the block (and I own it). You could spam the strongest unit and steamroll over missions with ease. HW was much more varied and had good missions. Nothing beats Nexus though. Smile

Sins of a Solar Empire is a good space game too.

Hmm, I might give HW a retry then, thanks for the heads up.

personally I also loved homeworld and homeworld 2, and yes, also hegemonia and nexus (I played through nexus 4 times so far I think.. I just wish there was a sequel)

while homeworld is obviously not as tactical as nexus, it's as close as it gets. there's nothing else out there that's quite like nexus as far as I know.

damn I miss those nexus explosions... it just was awesome when you blew up a ship and the whole screen would go white from the explosion. lol. it was so gratuitious and exactly the way I like my space battles.

Nexus was amazing. I still remember that my jaw actually dropped when I got into my first fights. You know, the ones where you don't have shields. Fell in love right there.

I can't believe they never completed a sequel or something, because that game is still the best tactical space experience there is. Guess the audience is too small.

Was gonna link that. Pretty damn impressive, but sad at the same time. Not even full fledged space sims come close to this level of detail and fidelity in space combat.

About explosions: yeah...there are simply no other game in the insdustry that managed to capture the weight and the force of impacting shells on the enemy hulls. Even the "weightless" bubble guns and lasers managed to look badass, as they slowly chewed away the enemy shields and subsystems, exposing the hull for the heavy hitters and some occasional torpedos.

EDIT: you guys might also wanna take a look at THIS thing. I'm not entirely clear on the project as I only heard about it somewhere and haven't took a close look into it yet, but AFAIK, it's supposed to be some kind of persistent MMORTS that uses HW2/Nexus engines. Sounds promising.

Hehe, thinking og buying it.
But it's like winning the lottery if Nexus runs without crashes on one's pc.

Hm, never had any problems with Nexus. I always thought it's one of the most stable games ever made. I guess I just have a lucky rig.
