All of a sudden, my windows 7 64 bit firewall keeps turning off. I already reset firewall settings to default, rebooted - but it keeps turning off!

Whats the deal here? Im using MS Essentials too if that helps. I cant get the firewall to remain on.

I already ran a scan for viruses and nothing.

**Update - its staying ON now. I dont know..

Its back. On and off. I think I got a trojan from either the games (Aliens vs predator which everyone said is a false positive) orthat app called 'unlocker' that I downloaded from cnet and all these other big name sites-contained trogan.

I noticed I have more than one of these services running:
csrss.exe

I was able to kill one of the csrss.exe and now my firewall stays on. So obviously I did get infected (useless MS Essential)

Now I have to find out how to clean it.

Unreal.

i have two of them running aswell
right click on it and see 'properties' and see that they're both from 'c:\windows\system32' as they should
if one is not, then it's a bogey and you should stomp on it
but if they're both from where they should, then you have a configuration problem
is your internet configured as 'public' in network settings?
if it's set as 'work' or 'home' it has much lower security settings and might even drop it in some cases

Well, the firewall is staying on again. So I dont know what is going on. I installed Tuneup 2010 and cleaned out the registry. Im also running a full scan with MS Essential.

If anyone might have some ideas as to what causes firewall to go off right after setting it to on, then doing this indefinately -let me know, thanks.

Firewall stopped loading at startup everytime. I have to enable it manually each time and then it stays on. Any suggestions?
*Windows firewall is running in services and set to start automatic. So it does not make sense its telling me its not running.

Go into services.msc, and see if the firewall is set to Manual. If so, change it to Automatic.

It was already set to automatic.

My profiles are not all starting with windows firewall as on. Sometimes the public profile startups up as off, other times private profile starts as off.

So it appears to be a profile issue.

Any suggestions?

It was a trojan causing it. Reinstalled windows7 to fix.
