I pirate games, but if I really enjoy them I do buy them (which means 3-4 titles a year). I just wish more companies would do what Bioware did recently. No DRM, simple disc checks. I pirated both DAO and ME2, but I also bought them. IMO, a good game will sell regardless of piracy, shit games won't.

Tbh i think they've lost all perspective. I understand why a company feels it needs to up their game protection in order to avoid piracy, but they are trying to get sales they wouldn't get anyway.
There is out there an excellent example of what i'm saying. It's called XBOX360. If you look at the game sales, between all platforms, this console sells more games than every single one of them, and every proper pirate out there has bought one to play games a long time ago. Hell, since some publishers stop releasing games for the PC, you are almost obliged to buy one. It's cheap (u can buy one for less than a proper graphics card), it's easy to pirate, and almost all games get release on it. You would think, comparing it to the PS3 (as far i know know remains uncracked), that it would sell less games, since piracy is easy and apparently rampant on it, so why does it usually sell more games?
What Ubisoft is doing is killing the legit PC gaming. Nor only every compulsive gamer (and a pirate is a compulsive gamer), bought or is buying a XBOX360 to play all games easily for free, they actually have no choice now, since they are delaying PC games to boost sales of a console that is easier to pirate than PC.
So to finish up, Ubi, if you're reading this, we've finished you're game on the xbox360 a long time ago, and you're sales on the PC of a game released 4 months ago are gonna be horrible, with or without drm (probably worse with it).

Well said, Pl@tinum. That should be posted on their official AC2 forums.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Heh, yeah it's mostly about what's said, that sequence is very desatured and the LOD isn't anything great so it does look a bit poor visually, that said these extra missions (Although not really, part of the overall story but initially cut.) can be pretty fun.
I found the one afterwards (Think it's the one referrenced in the above post.) much more annoying as you have to assassinate nine city leaders in a variet of ways and objectives like not being seen or completing a duel or chasing a guy across the city, as there's nine of them it takes a while and feels a bit repetetive towards the last couple of targets.
At chapter 14 now so not much left to do as far as the main story is concerned, still need to find all crypt seals, feathers and other side objectives though.
(Advanced wall run has hindered progress a bit in a certain crypt, although the first part of it felt much easier than the family crypt available separately due to a lot of that part being timed with very short time limits so you don't have the opportunity to fully explore the area aside from the main rooms.)

Speaking about collectables - i seem to be missing a heavy weapon, but i'm pretty sure i've bought every one available. Is it the weapon that's unlocked by collecting 50 feathers? Also i wonder if there is a way to get the 6 psp game bonus weapons on the pc. Some of them look pretty cool even though the stats are not that great. Hell you don't need anything else after you get the Altair Sword.

Yeah you supposedly get a hammer after collecting 50 feathers.
(Must be quite a task to collect all 100 as they don't show up on your map, thankfully codex parts are revaled as a later part of the story and treasures can be found by purchasing the area map although most other things require scaling the 76 or so viewpoints to reveal locations.)
Wonder if you get something for completing the side stories?
(Maybe just extra health, I've only done the cheating husband ones so far and explored some tombs and templar bases though I have more than enough money now and like 14000 or so in income from the villa.)

I think you can only get more health from armour/codex pages. I'm pretty sure that the seals and feathers are the only things that actually unlock something - namely the armour, the weapon and the cape. The statues are pretty useless as they just give you money.
Is there a way to snoop around those .forge files and see if the PSP weapons are in the game files?

Is it me or the enviroment textures seem like technology of 3-4 years ago ?
It's too shame that they didn't even woked on directx 10 on this amazing game, but i don't think it would be enough for us the "render work on directx9" that David Champagne said in his interview... :/

God, some of you keep bitching over and over again. Go buy the fucking game, it's not that of a hassle, and so far there hasn't been a single situation with the DRM malfunctioning or anything.
Actually, I'm glad that it's taking so long. There are some among us, who buy legit games anyway, but most will just rip ubi from their profit by not buying the game. I may sound like a hypocrite who says one thing and still posts a board that focus around scene releases, but buying a game and playing through it with a crack (what I was supposed to do since the very beginning) and downloading it just to bitch around incomplete crack - those are two entirely different cases.
I wonder, why ain't this thread locked yet?

God, I love pretentious people that sit and whine at pirates whilst doing the same damned thing themselves. Yes, good for you, you buy one game in a blue moon .. so that gives you the right to bitch at those that don't? *golf clap* Bravo sir.

Oh, please, correct me if I'm wrong dear master, but technical stuff like cracking the game, issues connected with it and all the other software/hardware stuff belong since always to TECHNICAL thread of this board.
This place here should be devoted to gameplay-related things, I believe.

Yeah, a wolf in sheep's clothing. I buy games if I like them. Yeah, I download them first to see if I like them. But this doesn't mean that I have to support a DRM like this. POP 2008 sold very well without any DRM. They will sell more games if they don't keep pushing back the release date for PC and punishing clients with screwed up protections. This game was delayed but there is no difference between the console version and this one, the same DX9 graphics. So, what was their reason ? Now they are delaying The Forgotten Sands for PC. So, go and bitch someplace else with your new found respect for Ubisoft.

Oh bullshit, you don't have the moral high ground here mate. You can play the "I buy all my games and I come here to find out about cracks to use on my retail disks" card all you want, but we all know it's horseshit.
You're a pirate, just like every one else on this board. You may buy some retail games, as do we all, but you sure as fuck ain't no satin-wearing White Knight matey. You probably bought this one and are now feeling the need to defend that by blasting others who choose NOT to buy it.

Of fuck yeah, I never said I wasn't. I just buy SOME games without dlding them first, cause I know they'll be fucking awesome and I won't be disappointed. Hence, I believe AC2 is one of such games, hence I can't stand people bitching over the damn protection, especially since it's working really fine so far and NOT interrupting the gameplay AT ALL. That's all there is to it. I'm not saying I won't crack it when the crack is out. It's not that I'm a fan of being constantly connected to ubi servers for no reason whatsoever.
Anyways, don't feel offended, any of you. I've been a part of this community for several years now and I know how it works. It just pisses me off, that instead of discussing the game you're popping up the same shitty rhetorical question of crack release. Forgot the SC Chaos Theory times and a one-year lag? ']

On one hand, you're right, personally i bought the game months ago cause AC is my favourite game and waiting to play...
On the other hand, what will people without internet do? For e.g.i won't be able to play AC2 during easter vactions on my other house cause i don't have internet connection there.
Only solution is the crack.
Also, it's not so "stupid" for people to argue with that sh1tty drm thingie, cause we have enough google, trojans, software and other stuff sending data from our pc over the internet...we don't want sth more stupid like DRM...

POP sales was poor because it was crap not cause of protection. ME2, Dragon Age poor protection, great sales. So make good and long games with even lousy protection your sales will be good, make shit or mediocre overrated crap and even DRM won`t help you

Oh my God! What have I done!?!?!?! Oh the horror, the horror.
Game good, me like. Looks and plays alot better than AC1. I didn't play much yet though, so I don't know how repetitive it'll get. For now, it's worth every penny of the 16 bucks I've paid.
