The goal as far as I've understood it is to use as much of each platform as possible but have them separate from one another although still trying to get them to look similar although the PC version should probably be the most advance one via techniques like DX10 and DX11 support and other improvements that brings. (Draw distance, resolution, texture detail, shaders, AA and AF and such.)
And if it's as tweakable and adjustable as CryEngine 1 and 2 have been (Far Cry and Crysis.) then setting any default values higher shouldn't be a problem.
(Crysis 1 does some pretty nice shader code although texture resolution is starting to look a bit low-res.)
I must say that I find it very hard to believe that Crysis 2 on either console will match the Gfx of Crysis 1.
If that happens, I wanna see it with my own eyes and THEN I will admit that I was wrong about the 500 Mb Ram being a limiting factor.
Anyway, when Crysis 2 get's released, be ready for the truth being flushed down the drain as all the non tech savvy people (most console owners which is also the majority of gamers Will hail Crysis 2 as the console game that was prettier than anything on a pc (I know it sounds silly but most of these fucks will be convinced that Crysis 2 consolified is prettier than Crysis 1 just because it's a sequel)
ehehehe man those screens are hilarious... like said above, no chance in hell will the game look like that.
great news is, though, that this'll be one crysis game that every pc user can crank out to max settings and have it play great
sigh.. i miss the jungle. i really should reinstall crysis just to bum around in it and soak up the scenery... maybe shoot a few koreans while im at it.
I still think crysis is great, but like Far Cry, when the story shifts for the alien (in far cry case, monsters) thingie, it pretty much screws the game. I don't know, if they were trying to crank up crysis challenge towards the end, they could've put some more nanosuit koreans hunting for you predator-style. In fact, if i could climb/leap trees and look like an ugly mofo, i would've enjoyed crysis a lot more
the joy of crysis was fucking up the woefully under resourced koreans with their shitty pea-shooters, while you womped around with hyper advanced weapons and an invisibility suit

I still remember one level that you have to escape some base at night with a ton of koreans hunting you with laser sights... grabing one by one and killing/throwing before the other notices you... Other time i just timed well my invisibility thing and escaped unnoticed, without killing anyone... In my opinion, before the aliens, crysis IS a fun game, it just depends on your creativity.
i liked throwing koreans off cliffs. that was always a giggle.
my MAJOR gripe with crysis was the AI. it was very difficult to play sneaky gurella warrior when the second you fire your weapon, all enemies immediately hone in on ur position... that right there is what ruined the gaming experience for me.
a TRUELY great combat game, would have fallible AI... where you COULD fire from cover, and the enemy would panic and fire in all directions and not have a clue where you were UNLESS you fucked up something special bad.
one time the game DID work wonderfully well for me, was when i was totally out of ammo, cept for like 10 pistol shots, and i was in a thick bit of wood with koreans all around the place stalking me. for that one brief sequence, THAT was what the game was all about, it was brilliant.
just such a pity the multiplayer wasnt supported, because it was great until the cheaters fucking ruined it like they always do.
More bullshit marketing with fake shots... anyone remember that jungle DX10 video before crysis launch?? Scamming bastards they are, though I'm sure the game will look great.
yeah i lost a lot of respect for crytek after the shit they pulled with crysis. they still had some of my respect for making a pure pc focused game though.
dont get me wrong, ill still get this. and play it. and try and enjoy it. and i suspect it will even be fun with some pretty epic set-pieces, but as a developer crytek is dead to me.

That's the moment you apply speed and move away from that area and find a new position. Like in reality.
I much preferred Far Cry over Crysis though. The game itself was more fun. Crysis had the technology and graphics but something was lost in the 'translation'.
then cheaters ruined it... the people cried out for a hero... they cried out for crytek to stop the madness... to rid us of the cheaters and make gaming safe for the people once more...
crytek LEAPED into action... and released a fucking MAP PACK.
game fucking deleted.
seriously, whats the point of making a game 'so graphically advanced, so as to stay on the cutting edge for many years, thus extending its life', if you arent going to fucking support the motherfucker, i mean wtf.
also multiplayer was crazy unbalanced... soon as you got a vtol, no one else really stood a chance....
screeny from my fav map on crysis - i like sniping.. i like the challenge. im not a camper, i move around a lot, plus with bullet arcing, it can be quite challenging. anyway, heres me ruining someones day while he waits for his vtol to finish building
game was fun.. multiplayer WAS fucking awesome, just fuck crytek up their stupid asses for not fucking supporting it.
I don't get it... what's that supposed to be/mean ?
Looks like it means the game is going to be played in a almost post apocolyptic new york where aliens have already done there damage.
The wall of paper would be pictures of missing people.
It's going to be the most lovely looking turd we have ever seen.

"The first game's Nanosuit, which toggled between four enhancements — enhanced armor, strength, speed and cloak — has been altered/upgraded/streamlined to allow the player to toggle between what Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli described to Kotaku as the tools to let Crysis 2 "be an action game or a stealth game." That's how players wound up playing the first, he said, oscillating between the two modes of play.
One main mode of the suit will enable stealth tactics, improving the player's ability to sneak up on enemies and, as we saw during a sequence of the demo that occurred on a rooftop in downtown Manhattan, see through walls at close quarters to spot enemies. The more aggressive mode will draw more fire but make the player more powerful"
lol built-in wall hack? im not surprised, console games all come with autoaim anyway, so it wont be long before console games gameplay consist entirely of pressing 'start' and then 2 quick-time events for the finale.
but this is crap. i really enjoyed having multiple modes... say what you want about the nanosuit, but the 'modes' were a cool idea, and switching between them was fun.... but now.. theyre just stripping all the strategy right outa the game arent they, what little there was to begin with... now we have hunty and sneaky modes, and i suspect ill just leave it on hunty for the entire game...
