Speaking of Ace pilots- Erich Hartmann had a much more interesting life.
But they will probably never make a movie about him, as they wouldn't portray a nazi soldier as a hero.

WHY OH WHY DID I WATCH THIS???!?!?!

I watched the first one just to see what all the negative fuss was about and obviously I ended up agreeing with it all, terrible movie. But this one somehow manages to be even worse. It's a merit in itself.

Hachiko - 9.5/10

Totally unexpected, I saw the original some 10 years ago, and I thought to give this one a shot just to see how hollywood has ruined it, and to my surprise it was able to keep the core essence of the movie and despite this story is already widely known it's still able to kept me on the edge of my seat.

In my opinion this is as good or even better than the original.

A recommended watch.

(s)He prominently showed up as one of the main characters of Strike Witches, it seems Japan still has a massive hardon for the nazi era even today. Who cares if they made him out to be a flat chested loli, right? Not to mention none of the characters wear pants or skirts, just underwear.
Spoiler very much related, it's Erica Hartmann saluting you..

Astro Boy - 7.5/10

I don't know how the original is and I'm not generally the type to watch computer animated movies (except for a few great ones, Wall E being one) but this one was pretty entertaining. Nothing special about it as such but it was entertaining and worth a watch if one has nothing special to watch.

I thought it was decent - but it felt "hollow" somehow. Both the sound and story. Still, entertaining.

Edit: With hollow sound I mean the chars voices didnt really sound right. It sounded too much as reading from a script (which ofc they are, but you get my point).

id call it more of a thriller, but come on.. the last 10 minute when it all turned to hell, were pretty terrifying. i think they amped up the tension very well for the finale.

Pretty gory and disgusting at times not too scary though.
I would have loved at least one real zombie head smashing scene but oh well there was one

plus the ending was total shite

Was fun to watch but I'd rather watch Dead Snow a second time before I watch Doghouse again.
Well, off to Dead Set then.

Couldn't watch this movie more than one time.
It's so awesome and yet so tragic and sad at the same time.
Seen the movie once, read the book once. Never again. And that says something for me :/

Bah, damn it, just took it down. Oh well. Razz

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief - 4/10?

Horrible, just some decent CGI, horrible script and overall a painful experience. Not that I didn't know it before hand...

Capitalism: A love story - ?

As someone who knows very little about the economic status of the US or the political system they have, this was still an enjoyable movie. Obviously I took everything with a lot of salt since it's Michael Moore, but some of the stuff was absolutely disgusting and completely insane... Can't say if it's a good documentary since I'm not knowledgeable in the subject but it was entertaining.

For a good documentary about the state of things, I would recommend Collapse.

But for know I strongly recommend you to watch Hachiko the 2009 remake.
Imo it surpasses the quality of the Japanese version.
Since it seems you have seen some really bad movies in the last few days, I advise to watch this one.

You won't be disappointed! Wink

oh yea
I watched Collapse a few days ago and just loved it
while it's seemingly overly pessimistic and utterly grim, you simply cannot directly dismiss any of the points it raises
all are valid points to be taken seriously and hard work put on
more than if it had any actual credibility to it, i loved that it was so relentless.. and we never see that in western documentaries
they're always so sugar coated
here's a trailer;

Not just Dog lovers, it's a film for everyone, but indeed it's somewhat sad movie, but very realistic considering the genre.
