Weird, my specs are a Core i7 920 with a GTX285, shouldn't be any issues here, i'm running 1920x1200 though. |
That is odd, C2D E6750 at 3.2 Ghz with Ati 5870 here, running at 1080p. My CPU is obviously on the lower end compared to yours, GPU is comparable. The only difference is that yours is Nvidia, they have some exclusive stuff in the game for those.
Anyhow, this shouldn't be a performance issue, something's wrong...obviously 
Some background process may be?

5870 is sometimes like half faster than 280GTX you cannot compare those. Game is very GPU heavy, doesnt use CPU that much.

Yeah it's odd, did some more tests with fraps enabled:
The first Cutscene where you're basically just a couple of guys standing there, it has some pretty weird FPS drop out of nowhere, it's basically rendering the same thing(as far as the eye can see) but it can go from like a 100 FPS to 20FPS.
Same when you start the game, it doesn't seem to be an issue even with huge amount of stuff to render, then i found some kind of silo which was basically just a round rube with some boxes in it, bam 20-30 FPS again.
It makes no sense.

So every time I try to run this, thinks for a second and then just stops before it even gets into the game.

XTX 5870 1gb
4GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Any ideas?

Have you tried starting it from the game folder and running it as administrator?
I remember having CTDs on start up in BC2 beta...

You could try to switch to the Steam Beta and give it a run then. I am running on the Beta. Also there are also some people on Steam forums who have trouble starting the game.

Remove/rename the .bik Video, the game will start without CTDs, but of course you won't be able to see the video.

The problem for some seems to be that game won't even launch.
Steam trouble it seems, it was posted on the Steam forums that logging in and out could help.

If you have FFDShow installed try adding the game to the blacklist if it does not start.

not working here
EDIT: cause i have dual boot, i installed steam on my new hard drive and now i am downloading the game again, already 50%, in abit i will see if this fresh installation of steam and freash installation of jc2 will do the trick. |

I am running the game with just about everything on highest setting (No AA though) with an 8800 GTS 512mb. Works great and looks great. Quad core CPU on Win7 X64 with 4GB memory helps too though

i managed to get it working here by selecting Change User in steam and loggin out. I then logged back in and clicked play demo.

go into the compatibility tab and try disabling desktop composition and/or visual themes. That will help occasionally if a game seems like it just doesn't want to start and doesn't kick an error

ok..the fresh installation of steam and download the game again works ..i can play now and thank you all for the support . |
