a fake or really exist?

The game has new protection, it'll take a skilled coder to crack it, a layer fix wont do anything...

It may be real, it may be fake (most likely), but it doesnt even matter, it wont allow you to play the game either way.

Who gives a shit what gamespot thinks or any other review site.
Geez.

If I listened to reviewers I wouldn't get to play many games, games that turned out to be awesome.

First, this "protection" isn't new by any means. DVD movies have been using it for a short time. Second, I'm pretty sure no "coder" or "cracker" will be able to make a so called fix for this.

Backup copies of PS2 DVD9 games won't work in the PS2 .. even if you have the latest version of the PS2 and the best chip. The problem is not the PS2, the media, the chip or the burning software .. the only big problem is the method for burning them to the media. DVD's (DVD5 and DVD9) can be burned in 2 ways : OTP (Opposite Track path, used for DVD videos) and PTP (parallel track path, used for DVD9 gamesand some movies ) .. the problem now is that DVD+R DL media can only be burned in OTP mode. The only way to burn a DVD9 game disc in PTP mode is with a factory pressing machine and there is no way yet to change (force) from OTP to PTP and vice versa.

In order to play DVD9 games either rip it to 2 DVD5 (not a good idea with GT4 me thinks), flatten it and put it on the HDD, or just buy the original.

I already got the real game but if I flatten the dvd? And upload it with hdloader it should work. Long loading times suck

The PS2 definitely can't read DVD-RAM. They say it works after some editing, but they don't tell it how to edit it so it works. If someone knows how to edit it please tell us.

a fix has been released so the game works with hdloader/hdadvance

i fixed the strike release and am playing it now so can confirm it works

i don't know if the fixed image will work on dvd+r dl though, could also depend on which chip you have

i read that a 1:1 backup would work if you have the toxic 0.3 bios on a dms4 modchip, as that patches the media checks on the fly, that works if you've copied it to hard drive, or a DL DVD-R.

but i also read that so far that's the only way... so how about you fishcake? is that what you've got? or are you running it from hard drive with a different chip? if so, what's the name of the fix you got? i'd be happy to try the fix on a DL DVD-R copy of the game.

ah i've just read about the fix, by toolboy, that enables it to work from hard drive. good work!

is there any reason this shouldn't work on a DL DVD-R as well?
i would try it myself, but don't have any DL disks...

not sure if it would work or not, i don't know how hdloader works but in theory i'd say there's no difference between a flattened dvd9 iso on the hd or on a dl dvd (someone correct me if i'm wrong)

i think the biggest problem with dl media is the chip has to support it for it to work

instructions with the fix states that when burning you've got to make sure that the file from layer 1 is burned onto layer 1 (although i don't understand why that is, if its a flattened image).

anyone know of any programs that allow you to specify this?

also, i've got an old, crappy chip, a Magic 3.1, anyone know if this is DL compatible?

i think you can do it with dvd decrypter, i'm not 100% sure though and don't have the flattened iso on my hd to check

open the flattened iso with apache and make a note of the lba of GT4L1.VOL then start dvd decrypter, change mode to ISO/WRITE and select the flattened iso, click tools/settings and click the iso write mode tab then where it says LAYER BREAK (FOR DL MEDIA) check user specified and enter the lba of GT4L1.VOL, that should burn it to the 2nd layer, i'm not sure if it'll work though especially with your chip
