The error is related to the rip itself not the rar compression. Just get a Par set and repair your rars then extract. Cheers.

If you have a CRC error that means the archives are damaged, redownload or just make sure you've ran it through QuickPAR (or any other PAR utility) as mentioned above =)

Story-related for the most part. A bunch are for miscellaneous stuff like "Master all tiers" and "Do 100,000 damage in a single hit" - but the majority are story related.

@onthepunt/langlest

I'm certainly not fanboyish enough to deny the facts; there is something seriously wrong with the graphics on the 360 version. There's almost no aliasing whatsoever, it's smooth as a baby's butt, and the textures look simply magnificent with super fluid performance -- BUT! What in the fuck is going on with the hair!? That can't be right, can it? Everyone's hair is a MESS! Visual artefacts all over the place, like super-heavy dithering on a shitty quality GIF. Everything else is fine (prerendered cutscenes do have a small amount of graininess to them, not game-breaking but definitely noticeable) but damn the hair is fucked up and makes everyone's head look like a right mess!

These visual anomalies aren't in the pre-rendered cutscenes, only visible in-game, but damn if it's not annoying :\

Audio is top notch though, sounds amazing and the English voices are brilliant so far. I'm sure this hair thing is a glitch that can be patched/fixed, because it was never present in any of the 360 vids we've seen so far. I really and positively DESPISE the fact that everything rests on Lightning. If she goes down, it's game over? WTF? What about my other party members? DERP! Innovation, in this case, is NOT a good thing because you know for a fact enemies will consistently target Lightning.

Still, I'm glad to say I'm enjoying it so far. I think I'm gonna get a huge amount of fun out of this ^_^

=Edit=

I take it back. Holy SHIT the aliasing is pretty bad at the moment... it looked great at the start, but I'm starting to notice it a whole lot more now and it's Jagged City from where I'm sitting. *sigh* Well, there's no doubt about it; the PS3 version is most certainly the superior one in everything except price (Laughing)

If you've got a 360 and a PS3, it's no contest; get the PS3 one. Don't get me wrong, the 360 version is far far from "shit" - but it's noticeably uglier than the PS3 one and you have the added drawback of needing to disk swap.

Well, the pundits always did say that the 360 would 'display' it's limits soon and the PS3 pull ahead at some point, I suppose this is it.

looking at the initial feedback, is it possible to just burn one disk and play. I dont think I will like this whole turn based sh*t, so dont wanna waste 3 disks instead of one!!

Yup, just burn off 1 disk, install, demo and wait for PS3 version.

And you felt the urge to tell us of your dislike for turn based rpgs in a thread about a turned based rpg because?

ontopic:
Maybe the version going round isn't the finished retail version? O.o
Because I can't believe that the 360 version should/ would / could really look that "much" worse.
Then again, I pre-ordered the PS3 version Very Happy
But still, I think it's strange.

I've seen a few more things that make me think "Hang on.... wtf is this shit?" I think you may have a point Reklis, I really do. I have strong doubts as to whether this version is gold/final/retail or not. After playing for longer;

*There is absolutely NO anti-aliasing. The opening scene didn't look bad at all, but once you progress out of the initial combat tutorial; it's hellishly bad.
*Hair and cloth textures severely screwed up, displaying pretty severe graphical glitches (no, it's not my machine Rolling Eyes) both in and out of cutscenes. Pre-renders are fine.
*Distant filtering is non-existent, with extremely visible aliasing and a complete lack of texture detail. You also sometimes see other visual anomalies too, like shadows appearing broken or out of place, especially at distances.

Seriously, none of these issues were ever seen in the videos released by SE. Something just doesn't add up. Performance is still top notch though, smooth as butter at all times.

I just realised that the achievements for this one are not yet Online. If i play this game Online and unlock an achievements, will it also get unlocked on Xbox.com, once they are online there. Because there have been a lot of issues if you did the same for DLCs. You had to recvoer your Profile and unlock the achievement again.

That's JRPG mantra, bud! "Spikey, outlandish, hairstyles!" It's not JRPG if it doesn't have wild styles ^_^

So I just fought my very first "major" boss -- and it was awesome! I am really enjoying this so far, it's great fun!

@Undeathkiller

If you play online (or offline and later go online) and unlock achievements, then yes; they'll get stored and shown online.

played nearly 5 hours today. Not one lockup or crash so far and i think it looks fine on my 32" HDTV.The thing is for me though is that the gameplay has become very watered down and it's only about once you get 3 hours or so in does it pick up from press button "A" game, maybe this is so the under 10yr olds can play.I do like the crosover from game to fight scenes which allows for quick gameplay. My final diappointment is i've not seen one blade of grass yet!

Yeah I agree that really bumped me out, too
The game starts when you get to the icey place and get to earn "XP" and your grid thing is unlocked so you can "level".
Later on you will get the chance to upgrade weapons/armor and get the summons so that makes it even deeper.
So far I like it but I'm not blown away. I'm really unsure if I should upgrade my weapon since I think I want so save my items for a better/the best weapon before doing that.

Btw. you can change the combat speed of the ATB gauge to slow (might help in boss fights Wink) in the options.

The game has been totally linear so far, I hope it opens up soon and the constant switching around of my team members is kinda annoying.

Oh and it seems the battle ranking has some small purpose: increases rare item drop chances a bit and you get back more TP (which you use for special skills) if you are better.

Yup, I was about to say pretty much the same thing. Game finally started getting deeper after around 3-4hrs, when you get to the "icey place" Very Happy Unlocked Paradigm configuration and Magic usage ... and I'm really starting to get into this! I'm liking the Crystarium a LOT more than the clusterfuck Sphere Grid/License Board.

So far I've managed to get 5 star on all but seven battles Sad

Oh and I've kept every piece of equipment for levelling them up (when it happens, I'm not there yet) rather than taking the easy route and selling weaker equipment.

its average by ff standards i think. And ever since they started adding voices to these games, for me it kills the appeal. I hate the voice overs, especially how they voice kids, gets on my nerves, just the same as japanese cartoons. Maybe now i'm in my 30's i just find these things less tolerable and want more mature offerings, i'm willing to accept that but over the last year ive replayed 7 8 and 9 on my psp and i still love those games.

Oh wow. If the rabble goes apeshit over a lack of towns, imagine the furor over no voice-overs. About the only ones voice I can't stand is Vanile's. I get it fits her character, but yea - its a bit grating. Hope just sounds like a punk. The adults knock it out of the park however, especially Sazh. And damn Lightning is one cold bitch - although I'd react the same in her shoes were I confronted with the person I thought was responsible for my familial "problems".

The changes to gameplay are definitely welcome. The game is fast paced enough where your partners will make the right decision on who to attack, as well as hitting your team with cure; although if you wait and gamble too long - you will get dropped. The Paradigm shifts add a nice wrinkle to gameplay, and jumping from one to the other to cure and get the attack bonuses up keeps you engaged in the gameplay and on your toes. Definitely liking it so far.

And those cutscenes - damn. The branding fmv was awesome.

yeah since the ice level, the game has become so much better. Was starting to get very bored with it until then.

seems to be enough happening during a fight to not miss having direct control over every party member. It all seems quite fluid, so hopefully the AI keeps it together when there are bigger bosses.

story is great so far, doesnt really hold your hand - and the recap before you start playing again (after some down time) is really cool.

Odd, GAME got all worked up about emailing their customers saying that they will be processing our orders early etc to ensure swift delivery for Tuesday (what with the huge numbers of orders they have to process) yet here we are 3 business days from release and the game hasn't been dispatched, odd.......

if thats re FF13 game play, its just the long tutorial section. Once thats done, game seems to open up nicely and is a lot more fun. You are mainly watching the game for this period, and its nice to watch!

The previous post suggesting 10 year olds were equal to the combat does actually have validity, at least for the first 4-5 hours.
Very strange the way SE are heading, just shows how right we were to deplore the merger Sad

I was never (until now that is) opposed to the merger because I seriously thought that by the combination of Square and Enix we'd get some great games.
I mean Enix with franchises Like Star Ocean, Dragon Warrior, Soul Blazer / Illusion Of Gaia / Terranigma etc. and Square with Final Fantasy, The SaGa series, the Mana series, Chrono series and so forth.
I do realize Enix hardly developed any of those themselves but nevertheless I was expecting some greatness from this but so far they disappointed with a few exceptions (ie. Kingdom Hearts, The Last Remnant).

Right now I'm debating with myself if I shouldn't just download the first disc and have a look at it so I'm not completely pissed off when I get my pre-ordered one Very Happy

btw @sabin, whatever happened to your avatar, custom title and stuff? O.o

I wouldn't say that they were worked up judging from the e-mail that you posted here. To me, it seemed as if they were only reassuring you that they would have enough stock to fulfill all of their pre-orders and that you would get it on release day. It didn't come across to me that they were saying that you would get it early.

So why would it have dispatched already? Wpon't the post it Saturday at the easrliest, but most probably Monday?
