As a general rule of thumb, I hate that comnsoles now patch their games.

In the old days if you bought a console the games were easy, you put them in and they worked and most of them didnt have any game breaking faults (although I will grant you I am no doubt remembering with fondness)

I do like the PS3, I dont have a lot of games for it yet, but I do enjoy the few I have. I still find PSN poo, but I am not a big online gamer so it really dosent effect me.

What I do really hate though is the thought of going out and buying a game that is one week old and having to patch it with a 220meg patch (I am presuming Spiderman was trolling with the comment "as of today this failure has a 600mb patch that fixes things for...")

I also beleive the game has a forced install (can anyone tell me if that is true or not)

I buy consoles so I can play games without the hassle of buying a brand new PC every 6 months and in the old days I didnt have to worry about having the latest patches etc... to play, no install times and something even my wife can work.

The PS3 is a good console as is the 360, but whomever decided that launch patches of over 200 meg were acceptable needs to be hit with a big fucking frying pan

and then sodimised with a spoon, its a huge flaw (IMO) I cant think of any xbox game that has a patch size that even comes close to it.

It means a game I bought the console for is now it appears buggy as hell for some people, and when I get home with it I will have to download a 220meg patch and wait for a forced install.

Yes I know I can skip the patch, but if I get 30 minutes into the game and have a crash I would be even more annoyed, so its being stuck between a rock and a hard place, I think I am gonna read up a bit on the potential problems before blowing 40 notes on a game that may run better and cost less in a months time.

anyway fuck it, hopfully GOW3 and FFXIII will be ok at launch.

I gotta agree, the PC patching culture has really taken off with this generation of consoles, I find it unacceptable, I think its more to do with the publishers wanting it out the door with a " well you guys can always patch it if its buggy " attitude.

Probably even more to do with you not knowing what you talk about.
I'd even say that the PS3 is closer to a PC because it has a modified PC - GPU Razz

There is a Heavy Rain install - but during it you'll be making an origami figure (which is included with the standard edition) and by the time you've done that it'll have finished. So assuming you play along you'll not be inconvenienced and it'll help get you into the mood to play Heavy Rain.

The patch doesn't fix any of the bugs people are experiencing either so it's not necessary - and there's no announcement of a patch incoming (only that they are looking into it) so I'm not holding my breath, and am thankful for that since whilst I agree with most of what your saying, if I had waited I'd have missed out on the experience that is Heavy Rain and run an even greater risk of having it spoiled further down the line (people have gone out of their way to do that before launch, but it'll get harder to avoid spoilers as time goes on).

And of course you took the statement literal, and no the PS3 is not more like a pc, where as the Xbox IS a pc in a box.

Do you have any issues with the game or is it working fine?

Just started playing the game. Had audio problems in the dialogue, then got stuck on some stairs in the prologue. Would probably have reloaded, but then a cutscene came. But then the game froze on me when I went to the wife in the kitchen... Sad

Hopefully it's not like that all the time... :/

Me either, absolutely no issues at all, it's bizarre.
From the responses I have a feeing it's the older models that seem to be suffering....

There isn't going to be a second one based on what David Cage has said. If I'm not mistaken he's 'done' with this series of games. You probably should have hung onto it though since there is DLC for all the characters coming out, at least if I'm not mistaken.

I have seen this problem a few times which sucks if you are playing without subtitles on. I had to reload my save just to hear what they were saying.

Well mine is glitchy

I had a few sound glitches, but they were litrally for half a second (if that) so I thougth fine, I can live with this.

and just now it locked up on me and locked the console, could be nothing but anyways.

Slim PS3 (120gig) with the latest F/W and game patch, so its not a Old console Vs new thing.

Still I am enjoying it, gonna get some stuff done and then play some more.

They might not actually have been talking? They do a weird druggy movement with their mouth from time to time when they are stressed. If they were though you could have tried pausing the game and waiting for it to catch up.

#well played tonight and really enjoying the game, had one more bug where it just wouldnt respond so I had to quit and restart but other than that its been fine.

Loving the game though, all bugs aside.

Epic fucking game. Spiderman spoiling things again I see? still no ban? Rolling Eyes

*sigh*

Anyway, the game was sweet. Best adventure game I've played in years. Wasnt without its flaws storywise but the story was certainly great.

A couple of plot holes that fucked me off. Maybe some folks who got alternate endings can answer them:
