Re-validate game integrity via Steam (right click, properties, verify game cache). It will check it and re-download one file - that should fix it, did for me!

PostPosted: Sun, 28th Feb 2010 03:01    Post subject: How do I install this game?
I have the reloaded proper...DVDs 1 and 2.

When I run the installer on DVD 1...I get this message: c:\users\daren\appdata\local\temp\aliens vs predator internal_disk1_0.sid

then the install ends...and a message comes up from Reloaded saying that I have to manually install certain files.

What do I do?

Thanks for the help.

For some reason you have to point to the files manually. They're in the image files (or on DVD if you burned them). Just navigate and select them.

About the stuttering...As someone already mentioned, maybe it is connected to vram. I have only 512 on my 4870 card and on high and very high textures it was stuttering a lot, going from 60 to 1 fps. I changed to normal and it's gone (everything else is on max including AF x16).

Video card upgrade is imminent Sad

Freakin' Awesome! Finally someone who got the solution right. I just tried it on my HD4850 512MB card and the stuttering has gone off completely. Thanks a ton mate. Own you one. Wink

They did say that 1GB was recommend for using the highest texture quality though, would be about 768 for the one below and then 512 and so on I guess.
(Maybe that's why certain 260 and similar cards get this problem since NVIDIA uses 768 MB of GPU RAM for those, or maybe that was a older generation.)

No problem. Someone else figured it out before me, I think it was Sabin Smile

The irony is that I had initially tried lowering all settings, but that didn't help in anyway. So I assumed, it was the game which was screwed.

There is supposedly a memory leak or something so the game (32-bit) will use up all available 2 GB and then move to swap memory or page file afterwards if you play on for a time (Going trough several campaigns at once or long MP sessions.) or so I've read so it could certianly be improved with a patch or so to perhaps unload the "cache" after completing a level or something like that, should limit this problem aside from levels with a lot of textures. (v.high has textures up to 2048x2048)

I have encountered this. At one point my fps were at 20 plus stuttering in an enclosed level. I saved and exited then went back later and the fps was about 90.

JBeckman is right (as always..): the game has some serious issues managing and allocating memory, especially after several minutes of play. Alt-tabbing or simply restarting the level could do the job, but this is something permanently fixable only with an official patch Wink

I had the same problem with 8800 GTS 320 and World in Conflict back in the day. The game ran fine on high settings, but after less than a minute FPS dropped and game became unplayable. The only way to get rid of it was to lower the texture settings all the way to low, and even that didn't fix the problem completely.

I was frustrated by the fact that I needed to play on low settings even though the card could handle it fine on high, performance wise. Oddly though, this was only a problem on Vista. XP had no such issues. WiC was the only game with that kind of problem for me.

Sorry if this has been asked/answered already.....

I finally got the damn game to install and run. However, now the game crashes right after the 1st marine cut scene. Haven't even been able to take control of my character. Ship lands and then crash to desktop.

Any ideas/fixes? Using Vista 32...GTX 295 card...should be able to run the game. Tried the DX11 and reg game icon. same results each time.

Thanks for the help. This game better be worth it.

I was disappointed when I heard that Colonial Marines was delayed/canceled a while back. For me, aliens was always about shitting bricks in sync with the beeping of the motion sensor. That true Marine vs Alien experience Smile

AvP series is not bad, I enjoyed the previous game - different species offers plenty of variety and great gameplay options. But I still liked the marines campaign more.

Well, I'm playing on very high with my gtx260-ssc c216 and I don't have this problem. 896MB of course.
